Dear jose l;
Thank you for your kind word about the Ivey House and your tour with our EvergladesAdventures guide Chris. We're also happy that the mosquitos haven't been problematic now that the rains have been doing their thing around here! Happy and safe travels to you... we hope to see you again sometime!

This is a nice place to stay if you're visiting the area. My wife and I spent two nights. It is clean and comfortable with a very helpful and friendly staff . David at the front desk was particularly nice and helpful.

I would have like more pillows in the room but hotels never provide enough. I could have asked for more but didn't. The breakfast is good; I especially love it when hotels provide good, fresh oatmeal with brown sugar and raisins, not watered down mush. Nummy.

If you plan on hanging out in the hotel room, find a different hotel (I feel sorry for you if you do) because only local network TV is provided. There are many restaurants and activities within easy walking distance.

Dear Stuckerdud,
We're please that you enjoyed your stay (and nummy breakfast!) here at the Ivey House! We hope you'll come back again soon... and don't hesitate to ask for those pillows: we will happily provide them! It's also great to see that you recognize that most of our guests don't spend much time in their rooms: there's definitely lots to see and do around here in the Everglades that's so much more fun than watching TV! Happy travels, and thanks for staying with us!

Upon checkin we were greeted warmly and given an extensive introduction to the area. The cottage was clean and quaint. Beds were not as uncomfortable as usual hotel rooms. A/C was great! Breakfast was delicious with oatmeal, fresh fruit, and breads. We will definately be back.

Quiet and comfortable. Shabby chic furnishing, but clean and comfortable. The small efficiency kitchen is stocked. The porch is screened in. The pool looked great and the complimentary continental breakfast tasty. All staff were friendly and helpful. Do explore the everglades and try tasty local seafood at the local restaurants.

My wife and I were on a driving vacation of southern Florida with no real agenda. We had driven across the Everglades and were looking for a place to stay before heading up the coast. We ran across the Ivey House in a travel guide and decided to detour to Everglades City to check it out. We were glad that we did. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the facility was very clean and well-kept. The continental breakfast that was served in the morning definitely got you off to the right start. Everglades City is a small town known as the starting point for exploring the everglades and the Ivey House was a great place to begin. Even though we did not venture down into the everglades the Ivey House staff definitely had the expertise to get you started if you so desired. Overall we were very pleased with the facility and if we were in that area again we would absolutely stay there. Word of warning if you are going to the everglades - use lots of bug spray because the mosquitoes love to feed on those that don't.

Dear MissouriTraveler;
Thank you kindly for your glowing review... except, of course for the mosquitos! We hope that you'll be back to see us again during the cooler months when mosquitos are rare and it's quite comfortable to go out exploring our beautiful western Everglades! We're happy to say that the summer rains have definitely kicked in and the number of mosquitos has dropped dramatically this month. Please do come visit us again sometime... we're very happy you took your unplanned "detour" and found us!!

Motel is just around the corner when you drive into the city. Service is good, rooms are pleasent. A plus is the breakfast, which is relatively great for a motel. The city itself is very quiet in august, so 2 nights is max.
