It isn't tourist season here in the Everglades yet, but even so this restaurant was suspiciously empty when we arrived. My friend's fish dish was good, but the rest of the food was fairly mediocre. I had the all you can eat salad - the offerings looked a little tired, and despite their promise the shrimps proved to be quite tasteless.

The location is wonderful - outdoor dining on Lake Placid. However, the food is TERRIBLE, and service not much better. On a Friday night, just a handful of people at 7:00 p.m., no stone crabs (even though it is the height of stone crab season), and no clam chowder. The "soup of the day" was clearly out of a Campbell's can. Crab cakes were full of by-product. My understanding is that they are on the verge of bankruptcy...from the experience we had...I can see that it is true. Also, grossly overpriced for what it is...awful.

If you are in Everglades City and need dinner, you are in a tough spot. It's a long way to Naples. But, don't let your logistical problem prompt you to eat at the Seafood Depot. The food is way below even an average level of preparation. The service is at best basic, and can be indifferent to outsiders. The atmosphere is not pleasant and welcoming. There are other places to eat in Everglades Clty. Go there.

I ordered the pick-2 with fried oysters and the swai fish. The swai wasn't very good, but the friend oysters were alright. I really like raw oysters, so I wasn't expecting them to be very good, but they weren't bad. Sweet potato fries weren't very good either.

My waitress was very very nice. It's very dark inside. Not sure what type of mood they're going after for a seafood buffet restaurant.

Unless you're tired of the other 3 restaurants in Everglades City, go find better place. Camellia's is good for stone crab and a great atmosphere. If you're willing to drive 5 minutes down the road, go to Havana Cafe (lunch only, and occasionally dinner).

It is just OK, have been there twice, the service is hit or miss,1st time there was OK, 2nd time was pretty slow and the restaurant wasn't busy enough to warrant such poor service. The food is just average, with the exception of their Key Lime Pie, which was the reason we went back the second time
