The visitor center is located upstairs in a building adjacent to a marina. Downstairs is a shop that sells tours, food and the like. We went in it first, thinking it was the visitor center. Once we realized it was not National Park Service, we looked further and found it upstairs. It is not well marked, and I feel that some people miss it all together after they visit the first floor store. There is a small exhibit, sales of postcards and small items and a couple of rangers to answer questions. I did purchase post cards, and the ranger suggested that I stop and mail them in Everglades City at the post office. I was happy that I did, as the postmistress used a manual stamp from Everglades City to postmark them; good collectible for my grandchildren.
The visitor center does have clean restrooms....always welcome when you a touring all day long!
