Great tour with Captain Patrick! He was very knowledgable about the wildlife and natural surroundings! Loved this tour!

I'm not sure what I was expecting from this tour but I left feeling a bit disappointed. Perhaps the stage was set for a negative experience when our captain (Wesley) snapped at the family behind us. He did apologize for being rude but as an observer, I was left feeling like it would be best not to ask questions. That feeling was further confirmed when my partner's headset did not work. She told Wesley and he jiggled the cord and said, "It works for me" and then he said said to the passenger behind her, "There's another perfectly good set right here if she wants to use it". If I wasn't already under the impression that our captain didn't want to be at work that day, it definitely became clear when we passed another boat and he yelled out to the captain, "Only 10 more of these to go before we can call it a day".
All that aside, I did expect that a narrated tour would be a bit more narrated. I realize that it is hard to hear over the boat motor but even in times when we could hear, nothing much was said. We saw two alligators and raccoons that had been hand fed by other airboaters so they approached the boat when we came to a stop along the mangroves. To their credit, Everglades City Airboat Tours doesn't participate in feeding the wildlife. The ride itself was fun but again, I really wish we'd had a better guide.
Took a tour with Everglades City on April 2nd. Called the day before and were only able to get a 4:00 time slot, so if timing is important call well in advance. The 4:00 worked well for us, tide was high and we were able to see wildlife including gators, raccoons, and birds. Captain Thompson was great with the kids, and had an tremendous knowledge of the area. We really enjoyed the narration, as well as the ability to ask questions. We ended up with a bit of a history lesson, which was great. Boats were in good condition and seated 6 passengers. There was a good mix of zooming through mangrove tunnels, and slow spots to see and hear about the area. Highly recommend this tour, and would absolutely ask for Captain Thompson again!
Took our airboat tour with Everglades City today. Absolutely the best. Captain Thompson was very informative. Saw a wide variety of wildlife on one of the most enjoyable tours. If you are in SW Florida take an airboat tour. If you take an airboat tour go with Everglades City!!
We had pre-booked following good reviews here. (Don't forget the online coupon for a discount) There were only 6 of us on the tour, all with headphones/microphones which meant you could all talk to each other and Captain Bobby easily. The tour was not a "wildlife" tour as such, yes we saw raccoons, alligator, birds etc., but an informative guide to the history and geography of the area, combined with "007-style" zipping in and out of the Mangroves. It wasn't what I expected, but much more fun, as well as educational. If you only have time for one quick tour in the Everglades, do this one, and yes even for "oldies" this was a pretty cool trip....
