Did not have reservations to stay in Everglade City, but had planned to stay at a certain hotel, only to find they were booked. We drove down the street and came across the Captains Table,(odd name for a motel).
Rate was average, and so was the inside room/apartment. Clean, neat and good size room plus screened in porch. Air conditioner was older that me........senior. worked but very loud!

Room Tip: If you are just coming here for the fishing, more than accomadating.

While far from 5 star amenities, this place was comfortable enough for rest between outdoor activities. We found the room to be rustic but clean with a typical coastal motif. The TV was really small but we were there for an everglades photography expedition and really didn't notice. The staff was really accommodating the morning I wanted to print boarding passes. It was a little pricey but there are not many options in Everglades City.

We first stayed at the Captains Table on a family holiday three years ago. What really drew us to stay the first time was the screened in patio, perfect for us as a family as we could sit out after our daughter went to bed without disturbing her. During that stay, the rate was quite reasonable and we were very happy.

So, three years on and we decided to return as we were visiting the Everglades again. We were really surprised at how much the rate had risen since our last stay, yet nothing appeared to have changed or improved since the last time. The rooms are pretty much bog standard for any motel, quite pricey at $125.

My husband popped in to reception in the morning to see if there were any pastries or coffee, and was greeted with quite a blunt and cold response. Equally, when I went in again to settle our bill, the same lady told me to 'hold on' and made me wait for several minutes while she chatted with someone out back about how to get stains out of something. Not quite the customer service we expected to receive.

Overall a nice hotel in a lovely, quiet location, but not sure that it is worth the money.

The location bang in the centre of Everglades City is great. The rooms were motel standard, everything that you would expect. The manager was great helping us with a variety of requests dealt with proficiently.

Came into town for one night. Check in with the wonderful young man at the front was smooth, friendly, and quick. We were even able to check in a little early. I called the previous day to inquire about an early check in and the woman I spoke to on the phone was incredibly rude. Our room was one of the villas in the back and it was clean and spacious. When we checked out on Sunday we dealt with the same women I spoke to on the phone on Friday and lets just say she really needs some customer service skills and an attitude adjustment.

Very convenient accomodations for 6/7 peole in 2 separate rooms with 2 bath as a suite with kitchen (4beds).
Market store next door to plan for breakfast... great screened patio.
We did experience a nice stay as family with 2 rooms when booking too late for he suite, it was nice too.

This motel was not nearly what it appeared to online.
Yes it was cheap, but not worth it. The location is nice,
but anything in town is close to the water and the
Everglades.
Dirty room, dirty bathroom, grimy towels. Lackluster
reception service. The entire motel is pretty run down.

After spending a so-so night and a much better day
on the water, we were resting in the room before getting
a late dinner. At 8 pm, suddenly the room door shook,
a key was forcefully inserted, AND OUR DOOR OPENED!
A total stranger stood in the door, stared at us,
mumbled, and left.

No, we checked at reception, this was NOT maid service etc.
Basically, we were offered no explanation what was going
on except for a mumbled "yeah, lock might be loose, ya
know... want another room?"

I need to add we are medical people, and the guy at the
reception appeared to stoned/high.
We decided to move out on the spot, and went to a more
expensive place -"twice the price, ten times the safety".
Did not try the restaurant after that experience.

However, on a positive note, we were refunded the night
we did not stay.

I really hate writing a bad review like this, but feel justified
to do so . We ran into the local police the same night at
the gas station, and they were not surprised at all about
our story. They suspected dealing activity at the motel,
but did not give us any details.

The police recommended us the other hotel, and all was well.
