“Gentle Ben style”

Had a blast on the tour for my mom's 75th birthday. Only saw a couple gators and a handful of birds but the ride was really fun.

“Zipping thru the Everglades”
Reviewed April 30, 2014

My 11 year old grandson rates this as one the highlight of his trip, although we did not see any gators on the ride, (as the guide explained, a recent storm blew in sea water & the gators moved across the hwy. to escape the high salt levels), we both had a blast zipping thru the mangroves & grasslands & learned a lot about the area. There are 3 types of mangroves, white, black, red & they are protected. Our guide, Conrad, was also very knowledgeable on local birds & other wildlife. The facility is small, but the weather was cool the day we were there, so sitting on the dock waiting for 20 mins. (without reservations) for our boat was not a problem for us. Since my grandson's school mascot is a gator, he was thrilled @ the opportunity to hold a baby gator & have his picture taken to show to school mates. I was thrilled @ no charge! Great day for us both!

“Pretty "thin" tour; not very educational”
Reviewed April 29, 2014

This tour might be best for someone who has smaller kids and is looking for a quick boat ride into the ecosystem. For what it is, it's pretty pricey--$43 for about 50 minutes to shoot around (sometimes doubling back) a small tangle of mangroves and grasslands. We didn't see a single species. The guide seemed nice enough but we only had a total of about four sentences of explanation on the whole tour. We left disappointed. (The other odd aspect is that the 'shop alligator' was quote "sick" that day and not out for viewing. We wondered if it had died--possibly from being handled by scores of people!) We then continued on to the nearby National Park center, which (we learned) also does boat tours. They offered an open-water pontoon boat tour for 90 minutes for $30 (people coming off it were raving about dolphin and manatee sightings) and smaller boat mangrove tour for 100 minutes for $40, both fully narrated. Although we didn't take them, it seemed like you'd come away with more...Our mangrove experience was redeemed the next day when we paid $13 for a 90-minute tram ride through the Ding Darling Reserve on Sanibel and got the full treatment we were looking for, at 1/4 the price!

“Enjoyable Experience”
Reviewed April 28, 2014

We enjoyed this attraction on Good Friday. We did not see any gators, but the ride was still very enjoyable. We waited about an hour without a reservation. The facility has one bathroom and an extremely small gift shop. The staff was nice. It was a bit of a drive for us to get there. It is definitely a once in a lifetime experience, but probably not something I would do over and over. It was fun!
