We went out yesterday afternoon with Otis (Captain Otis but he likes to be called just Otis) and got to see a rarely seen part of Florida in a rarely used mode of transportation. The buggy was very comfortable and came equipped even with a Bimini top. Otis is an extremely knowledgeable guide who truly cares about the Big Cypress and the Everglades in general. He was funny and entertaining while teaching us quite a bit about this amazing ecosystem. One of the really great things about this adventure is just how willing Captain Steve and Otis are to mold the adventure around what you want and are looking for. We wanted to take some photographs and Otis was great, even stopping at a great spot to take some shots of a beautiful sunset. If you want to see a part of Florida that is rarely seen and in a truly unique way, give Captain Steve a call. You will not be disappointed and will get to experience and see a part of Florida that is truly special.

We went out this morning with Otis. We had a minor vehicle breakdown but Captain Steve came out and brought us a new buggy and off we went again. It did not detract from the tour! Otis was very knowledgeable about the area and told us all about the flora & fauna that call this area home. We saw alligators, a black racer snake, deer, birds and insects as well as many trees & flowers. It was a 4 hour tour and well worth the fee.
They supply towels, bottled water, bug spray and rain jackets if you need them.
We are from Canada and it was one of the highlights of our trip to the Naples area.....

We had no clue of what was going to happen, what we would see... nothing.
We met Otis, our guide and Swamp Buggy Pilot at 4pm and discovered the "beast" : a swamp buggy is... well it was no words to be described.
First thoughts "oh my God... wtf is that??". Don't panic. It's custom hand made. But it definitly works well, and you wouldn't wanna go to the swamps with anything else !
This is a unique opportunity to discover wild life in the heart of the Glades. Otis explained us how important water is for the Life of the glades, and for Florida. He also showed us many things we could not guess : how food was everywhere in nature, tracking paths of bears and panthers, and so on.
This was a true safari ! We were back at night, between 8.30 and 9pm ! Wow !!
If you wish to visit the Glades, do not miss to ride with a swamp buggy and an outstanding guide !

Captain Steve is the kindest, most genuine human I have met in quite some time. He is knowledgable and interesting and loves showing Big Cypress off to people. He loves the land and his passion shows in his tours. You may not see animals, they are wild and do as they please, but you are guaranteed to see what the 'real' Florida looks like. Big Cypress offers some of the most stunning vistas imaginable. Highly recommend to anyone who wants to see prairie and big sky. Great for photographers and biologists and conservationists and anybody interested in this beautiful land. Steve will stop as often as you wish.
