Having seen manatees earlier in the day off the peir in Naples we thought we were cool with them. Wow, when the calf first surfaced near our canoe we thought that was amazing but then it came up again shortly after right by the boat and rolled over onto its side. The park and the Rangers are a great intro to the Everglades. We came away awestruck by the tranquility of the area and the ability to commune with nature.

We, two "mature" couples, have just returned from a perfect day trip to the Everglades! The highlight was our Mangrove Wilderness boat tour. We have been on this before but this time it was outstanding due to our guide, Steve. The weather was perfect and wildlife abundant. Dolphins played around our boat as we left the dock and on our way to the mangrove we had the rarer sight of a group of manatees "getting frisky" as Steve explained. Steve had a wonderful eye for anticipating where and when wildlife would pop up.
Prior to boarding we went upstairs and met Chris Laurie, a park ranger. He was extremely helpful and patient as he answered our questions and pointed out on a visitor map short walks that would be best for the rest of our afternoon.

We unconditionally recommend this trip. No problems with reservations. They were confirmed promptly. Not all guides are equal, try to get Steve.

This tour was relaxing and enjoyable, as a boat ride and nothing more. If you go in with that expecation you will not be disappointed. If you go there expecting to see much in the way of wildlife, as their website pictures would imply, you are likely to be disappointed. We went on a beautiful sunny day and riding out in the Everglades and part of the Gulf was nice. I know this is not a zoo, and wildlife sighting is not guaranteed, but be advised there may be virtually none except for a bird or two. We did see a couple of dolphin tails (rid yourself of any notion that the dolphins will surf the wake or otherwise interact with the boat as the ads suggest), and we saw a number of birds. End of story. It was manatee season but those are few and far between, and very hard to see from a boat ride unfortunately. The crew were friendly enough, much more so towards the end (ie, closer to tip time!). The price was reasonable (especially as compared to some of the airboat rides) and if you adjust your expectations to what I wrote, you will enjoy the ride.

We took both the 10,000 Island Tour and the Mangrove Swamp tour. Both were incredible! The guides were very knowledgeable and went out of their way to help us to have the best experience we could have. The Mangrove Swamp tour takes only six people at a time and is able to take you right back into the swamps where larger boats couldn't go. It was amazing! Along the way we had dolphins frolicking alongside our boat and riding the wake and caught a glimpse of a manatee.

You can see the exact same Birds dolphins etc. by standing on the docks or shore line, this tour is very short and goes a short distance along the same shoreline you can walk along, it's not worth the price or time. Walk along the shore and skip the employee's bad attitudes on the boat. It's time the park service changes vendors, if your visitors to the park are not happy with what your vendors are providing, then get rid of the vendor!
