Owner description: At Everglades Area Tours, we set ourselves apart from the competition by offering the most intimate and educational tours of Everglades National Park and the surrounding protected areas. All of our guides are formally trained Florida Master Naturalists, Environmental Educators, and Full-Time Outdoor Leaders. You won’t find any intrusive airboats here -- they’re not allowed in Everglades National Park due to the damage they inflict on the ecosystem. Instead, we offer more exclusive guided boat, kayak, and walking tours with the most experienced tour guides in the state. Our most popular eco-tour, the Boat Assisted Kayak ECO Tour, combines the best of a boat tour, a kayak tour and a walking tour into one four hour adventure! Come experience the wildly unpredictable and natural beauty of Everglades National Park with Everglades Area Tours, where adventure awaits at every turn.

We just finished the Boat Assisted Kayak Tour in Chokoloskee. Wow! It has been a highlight of our whole America trip. Fantastic guides, great knowledge and information. This is not a "packaged tour" experience... We felt we were with friends. Nature tours can be fickle, but we saw dolphins, manatees, birds, fish, lots of sealife.
Those Horseshoe crabs forced us to rename Pavillion Island after our walk to Orgy Island.... Ask Captain Josh, he will explain!
We got the best of boating, kayaking and walking on an island in the Everglades.
Do it... You will not be disappointed.

Went on a 6+ hour tour in 10,000 islands. Had a early start around 830 with the tide going out, so the paddling was pretty easy. Stopped at a couple of keys and walked in the shallows and saw lots of life (crabs, rays, fish, etc). Headed back with tide coming in, so easy paddle back as well and had close encounter with dolphins (mom & baby)! Our guide was very knowledgeable about area, wildlife, history, etc. Had a great time.

The mangroove tour is for people with no expectations.
The guides are supposed to be experienced naturalists, but the guide that we had has a very poor biological knowledge. I am a biologist, so I could see that this guy barely knew anything about flora and fauna of the area and that he could not answer my questions.

It is not worth it for the expensive price they asked.

All our guides are formally trained naturalists and all of our tours have a strong educational component. We are also one of the very few firms to be Certified by the Florida Society for Ethical Ecotourism. This certification is a reflection of how we conduct our experiences with attention to the culture and history of the Everglades and its people, not just the technical aspects of the ecosystems. I am sorry that you were disappointed; all of us have different strengths. Please feel free to contact us if you still have specific unanswered questions. You can speak directly with another biologist or environmental engineer on staff

This was our second tour. Last time we did the 2 hour tour and really loved it so we decided on the longer 3.5 hour tour as we liked the idea of being able to leave the boat and walk on one of the islands. As Easter was over everywhere has really quiet and we were the only 2 on the 6 seat boat. Bruce was our guide and we thought he was great. He readily pointed out every sighting and we asked loads of questions all of which he answered. We saw loads of birds. And my husband was excited to see a bull shark. We also saw some dolphins. Bruce seemed keen to ensure we enjoyed the tour. We got the full 3.5 hours too - whereas on other tours this is not always the case. The tour is a little pricey but we thought it was worth it. We would recommend.

We took the 3 hour mangrove tunnel kayak tour with several other people and a guide from EAT. The paddling was quite easy although once inside a "tunnel", there were many opportunities to have to back up and reposition the kayak. We encountered three alligators that afternoon, albeit at a safe distance. On the return trip we were guided near an island where several bird species nest. Overall it was a great way to spend a sunny but not overly hot/humid afternoon. The guide was knowledgeable and very pleasant.
