“Attentive service - sweet lodging!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 27, 2012

We wanted to see Hopewell Rocks on our way to a longer stay on PEI. Stopping here allowed us to break up a long drive and explore a new area. A full kitchen was important to economize on meals.

My husband found Captain's Lodging on line. Once there, we were so pleased with the service and setting I specifically thanked him about 3-4 times!

What did we like? Well, the cabins and wonderful site, for starters. (More on that later) But even before arriving, booking communication and policies were smooth and explicit. Because we stayed there mid-week and 'off season' checking in early and departing late were offered as well.

On arriving, everything was ready and nicely presented. Because of oddities in timing, we didn't actually met Shari. Yet we never felt neglected any questions were swiftly answered by email. We had everything we needed and more. (I.e., BBQ and fire pit were nice options that never got used.)

Cabins & site: cabins were scrupulously clean and well-appointed. So much so that we wondered if they were newly built. (They're not, but they present that way.) High on a bluff, they offer a wonderful view. We had cabin 3 (a two bedroom unit) so my 80-year-old mother could have ample space.

While compact, the kitchen had everything needed for preparing good meals and sack lunches. (Just a little more space to easily store our groceries would have been useful, more shelves, perhaps?)

Bathroom was fine, hot water was plentiful. The front porch was pretty and restful, complete with a solo brown pigeon mascot.

Big bonus for staying here: there is a small pond nestled at the end of the cabins that feels like a secret find. Behind cabin 6 there's a boggy hiking trail that takes you to a very lovely LARGE pond in about 25 minuets. What fun! Real nature, quite pretty, and we had it all to ourselves.

There's a second hike along the shore that Shari described as your own private Hopewell Rocks. (But we had to go see the real Hopewell Rocks and ran out of time to enjoy this more private opportunity.)

This lodging offers the feeling of camping in nature - but you'll eat, sleep and bath in comfort! I recommend it for good value and attentive, organized service.

We spent five nights at the Captain's lookout cottages. The cottage was extemely clean, and everything that we needed was at our disposal - including a small cabin for laundry needs. It's a very quiet area on a well-kept site. Robbie was very accommodating, and the kids had a ton of fun with Sniper (Robbie's dog). Whenever we return to NB, we will be planning our stay at the cottage once again.
We actually travelled at the end of July, 2011 -

Room Tip: All cottages are nice, it all depends on the number of people travelling.

My son and I stayed at Captain's Lookout in mid August. We had decided to do the trip last minute and I found the cottages on the internet. As luck would have it one of the cottages were available for 6 nights and I booked it, hoping for the best. From the minute we drove up the hill we knew we were in the perfect spot! There were fresh flowers on the table, a welcoming note and the cottage was immaculately clean. We met the owners shortly afterward and they went out of their way to welcome us and make us feel at home. They gave us all kinds of great advice on local attractions and recommended eating spots, a local winery and great beaches to visit. The best beach is right across the road from Captain's Lookout and a short walk along a blueberry and raspberry filled trail takes you out to amazing views. A beautiful 20 minute drive down the road takes you to Fundy National Park and tons of hiking trails! We left feeling very relaxed and happy and can't wait to come back next year and visit with our new friends at Captain's Lookout!!

My husband and two girls went to the East Coast for our summer vacatioin this year and I ended up finding these cottages on the internet. The hospitality provided by the family who owns the cottages was one of a kind. They were wonderful people to get to now and their cottages are nothing but outstanding. Everything we were looking for in our trip. Please take the time to enjoy their trails along their private beaches that take about 3 hours to walk. Private caves and nothing but your family along the ocean you couldn't ask for anthing better. Make sure you also travel to Marys Point to watch the 12,0000 plus sandpipers each Augusut before they travel off to South America. When we arrived in our cottage it was fresh, clean and perfect! Thank you Shari (operator) for your wonderful hospitality and letting our family enjoy your special get away. Hands down,no one should every be disappointed with their stay!

Our son and his girlfriend were comming home from Ontario and it was to be the first time in three years our family would be together. Our sons love Fundy Park and the area so it was decided we would rent a couple of cottages in the area (there were 7 of us) for two nights. After looking on the internet for places in the area we decided to make a booking at the Captain's Lookout Cottages.
We rented a one bedroom and also a two bedroom cottages. There were 7 of us all adults. The cottages turned to be just what we wanted.

The Cottages are located about 15 Minutes outside of Alma, close to Cape Enrage and also the Rocks. The cottages were well equipped and very, very clean. Any request we had was no problem. We were entertained by one lonely pigeon and one morning visited by a couple of turkeys belonging to the owners.

A great place to stay in a wonderful area - we would highly recommend. We hope to be able to return for a stay in the near future

Stayed at the Cottages for three nights. Clean, well-equipped, superbly furnished by a loving hand with owners who get out of their way to accomodate you ..
Activitywise we did a Hopewell Rocks kayak tour which was worth the money (we stayed on to walk through the Rocks at low tide) and went to Fundy Park - a paradise for hikers.
We would go back there in a minute!

During our trip out to Nova Scotia, we stopped for two nights in New Brunswick and stayed at Captain’s Lookout Cottages. Our hosts were very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. Cottages were spotless and well equipped with everything including more pillows than we could handle. We cooked up a seafood feast one evening in the bright kitchen and visited a nearby town for dinner another night. We enjoyed relaxing on the big porch with a great view of the Bay of Fundy - we even had a full moon. Firewood was always set in the fire pit for whenever we were ready for a fire. Location was good between Cape Enrage and Hopewell Rocks. Lots to see in this beautiful area. We would definitely visit here again.

Room Tip: Both one and two bedroom cottages were lovely. Bring your bug spray!
