Owner description: Park open daily, 365 days a year from 8:00 AM until sunset. The historic Koreshan Settlement is open daily from 8:00 AM until 5:00 PM. Camping, hiking, picnic area, playground, kayak and canoe rentals, boat launch on the Estero River, guided historic tours, Sunday Farmers Market, Yoga in the Park Tuesdays and Thursdays. Dr. Cyrus R. Teed's utopian community of 200 followers relocated from New York to Florida in 1894. Dr. Teed took the name 'Koresh,' the Hebrew translation for Cyrus, meaning shepherd. The colonists believed that the entire universe existed within a giant, hollow sphere. They conducted experiments that seemed to confirm their beliefs. The Koreshans built and operated a printing facility, boat works, cement works, sawmill, bakery, store and hostelry. Education, science and art also helped shape their community. After the death of Dr. Teed in 1908 at the age of 69, membership of his religious group began to decline. In 1961, the four remaining members deeded 305 acres of their land to the state of Florida as a park and memorial. The Koreshan Unity Settlement Historic District is on the National Register of Historic Places.

What a lovely place , nice to find somewhere you can stretch your legs , this place has a really calm feeling to it , you can wonder around add lib . I particularly love the walk near the river were the bamboo walk is , the only shame is it got quite damaged in the hurricane , there are historic buildings you can go in too . There are many places in the park you can camp and have BBQ. Great for kids

We love camping at Koreshan. The sites have decent privacy, there are nice common areas, and touring the historic site is a great bonus. The Estero river is right there too and we've seen manatee swimming right from the dock. This is our go-to spot when we just want a quick getaway for the weekend. Spot fill up fast, but they always have a few left for same-day travelers.

Visited the Park with a large group. Had reservations for kayaking and a lunch. Considering the recent hurricane in the area they have done a great job cleaning up the park. So many tree down but they have clean the river up so kayaking was fun and no problems navigating the river. Our guides were awesome and very knowledgeable. Answered all the questions we could throw at them. We had arranged for a local cook to make us a great lunch. We will be back for sure.

Located in Estero on the Estero river with nice camp sites and a launch ramp for kayak and canoe lovers. Lots to explore in the park and on the river which goes all the way out to the gulf. Bring your food and drink with you because the park does not have a store. If you don't have a kayak Estero outfitters is across the highway with hourly and daily rentals and you can take the kayak from the rental spot right down the river to your camp site
