“Pearl Beach Inn Resort Unit #5”
Reviewed March 25, 2012

We had a great time at the Pearl Beach Inn. We stayed there this past week for 4 nights in Unit #5, which is located right on the water. We were able to keep our windows open all night long and listen to the waves! Before checking in, we did stop at Walmart and picked up all kinds of grilling and microwavable food. There is an eating deck with a table, umbrella, and grill where you can grill out right on the beach.... we did this for every lunch and dinner. Our unit had a medium size fridge, microwave, toaster, wine/bottle opener, kitchen utensils, plates, coffee cups and coffee maker etc.... basically everything but the stove and oven. The bed was a very comfortable King size bed. The staff were all very friendly and Wells had even brought us over his kayaks so we could go kayaking in the ocean!

Tip: bring a cooler and bag of ice for the beach! They have plenty of beach chairs.

This is a very remote and private location. Great for a couple, who just want to hang out in each others company and not be bothered. There are not any touristy things to do but there are a few restaurants near by.

We'll definitely be back! Thanks Bob!

Room Tip: #4 and #5 are both on the water.

We stayed here for seven nights in Unit #1, King size efficiency. Bob, the manager, met us on Friday and checked us in and showed us to our room and made sure it was to our liking. Which it was. We enjoyed swimming, fishing and walking up and down the beach looking for shark's teeth and just chilling out in a beach chair and totally relaxing. The resort is "Old Florida" style and the only one that remains "on" the beach. From our door the sand was only fifteen steps away. The WiFi works on the beach as well. They are located toward the center of the barrier island, Manasota Key, away from the public beaches, so it's like you have the whole beach to yourself. Most of the people we chatted with were neighboring home owners or middle aged - retired vacationers. This area doesn't attract the "Spring Breakers" which we were trying to avoid. If you do need bait or want to try jet skiing or charter a fishing boat, everything you need is only a five mile drive down a beautiful canopy beach road to the south end of the key acroos from the fishing pier by the bay bridge. We really enjoyed watching the dolphins and pelicans directly in front of the resort. You don't have to go all the way to Key West to enjoy beautiful sunsets..... same sun, same gulf. Just awesome. We'll be back.

Room Tip: Try to get a unit on the sea wall. It faces the ocean directly.

This motel is partly on the beach and in the middle of a residental area

hence it is very quiet and you almost have the beach to yourselves

It has stunning views of the Gulf from most rooms. The sea is ideal for swimming,

shelling and dolphin watching and is only yards away.Rooms are well equiped and

clean. There is a patio area, and chairs on the beach. Improvements were being made

to the garden and beach access

the only cons were
Restaurants were 6 miles away
TV was small and difficult to understand how to operate easily

Room Tip: Room 6 is nearest beach although 2 to 5 are almost as good

I never write reviews, but felt this was one worth sharing. We recently enjoyed a six night stay at this hotel. Its unusual to find a place where the staff have struck the difficult balance of leaving guests alone to enjoy the property while being responsive and attentive to guests needs at the same time. The staff of this resort have this down. We enjoyed the region and the quiet atmosphere....this area is not like the rest of Florida and the Pearl Beach Inn is the perfect base to explore. The canopied roads are a treat and the beach magnificent. It's really all about the beach here and the building itself has the most interesting layout which juts far out on the beach to the waters edge. I am sure building codes today would never allow building to be built this close to the water. It appears there is work underway to update the property. My only two suggestions for improvement would be lounge chairs for the beach and a new mattress, then it would be even more than just right.....Perfect.

We only stayed here one night, but it was really enjoyable. The location is excellent if you like quiet romantic places. We searched and found a ton of sharks teeth. The management was friendly and responsive to all of our needs. It is a little pricey, but the location is wonderful. We will go back again for a romantic getaway. The room size was fine. We had room #12 which was one queen sized bed, but it was plenty large enough. There is no pool, but we didn't care. The beach location more than makes up for it. The closest good restaurants are about a 10 minute beach road drive back toward Englewood, but it is a very scenic drive. The trees make a canopy over a good part of the road. It gives you an old Florida feeling. If you're looking for a lot of activities, this is not the place for you. However, if your looking for a very relaxed, romantic stay, this is it. We will go back again.

We had the pleasure of staying at the Pearl Beach Inn for 3 nights. We loved it soooo much, we changed our plans so we could stay a 4th night! Our room was #5, and it was the best room in the place! Just a few feet from the beach, the sound of the waves filled the room. The room was nice -- we were pleasantly surprised that it had a small kitchen area. The bed was super comfortable.

The beach is not crowded at all -- the most I could see on the entire stretch of sand was 12 people at one time. The only time we realized there were other people staying at the Inn was when everyone gathered to watch the sunset. Peaceful, quiet, perfect.

The only negative thing we have to say is that the managers were hard to find. Between check-in, needing a new smoke detector battery, wanting to see if we could stay an extra night and check-out, we had to either wait around quite a while or leave a note.

The best part is that while we had a short trip (5 days total), it felt like we really had a vacation. Very relaxed and tan upon our return to "reality".

We had planned to go to Hawaii this fall, but have cancelled those plans and will be coming back to the Pearl Beach Inn. Absolutely LOVED our trip.

Room Tip: Rooms #5 and #6 are just a few feet from the beach. FABULOUS!

First of all, this is NOT a B&B as TripAdvisor lists it. There is no breakfast served. And it is not house or home. It is a motel with 12 rooms.

Second, it is NOT a "Resort" as it's name, website, and sign claim. A resort, at least to me, means amenities and activities which this motel completely lacks.

Third, it is significantly overpriced. Our room (#6) was very plain, and showed definite signs of age. The bathroom is very small. The sink is just that, without any surface area on which to place things (they do have a medicine chest over the sink). The tub is aged and the shower nozzle is one of those water savers. The motel supplies many warnings that the plumbing is "finicky" and can clog easily.

OK, those are the negatives. But this place does have many positives. The location is its finest asset-- right on the beach. Several of the rooms have a direct view of the Gulf from one or two windows and have a patio with chairs where you can sit 50 yards from the water's edge. (# 6 has this and might be the best room for the prices charged).

The bed is a king and very comfortable. The kitchen is equipped with a small but full size refrigerator/freezer, a small microwave, toaster, coffee maker, and adequate number of dishes/utensils. There is also a couch which makes into a futon. It was cold/cool the two days we spent there so we did not use the window A/C or ceiling fan. There is no heat. The flat panel TV is much too small for the room (about 20" diagonal) and it's controls can only be figured out by ultra high tech geeks.

The setting is tranquil and management encourages guests to keep it that way. We found it very quiet.

In summary, this is a nice place to spend a quiet day or more on a Gulf beach. It the price were, say, $150 per night instead of $240, I would say it is adequate value. But at $240 and up, it is overpriced.

A recommended restaurant is Cafe Venice in downtown Venice. See our review under that name.

Room Tip: # 6 is best for the value. Look at the "floor plan" on the website to help pick a room.
