We vacation in the area usually twice a year and have always taken this beach for grantred. In actual fact it has everything you need - bbq areas, changing rooms and toilets as well as gently sloping beach into the water, plus various cafes/restaurants/drinking establishments right opposite. The grand finale has to be sunset watching - we've often gone to Fisherman's Village in Punta Gorda to see sunsets but why bother driving the distance when this beach is right on the doorstep! In our view this beach is as good as any in the area.

Ok, you have to pay for parking but at 75c per hour it's not going to break your wallet and at least the lot's well laid out.

Stump Pass beach is a mile more so further along. It is narrower and the drop into the water is steeper but it's usually quieter and great if you spot dolphins.

Get there before 11:00 am if you want a parking space on holiday weekend or in season. Sand is soft and the water typically amazing. The new improved walkway and seating areas are very nice. The restroom are clean as is the beach. You can rent chairs Nd umbrellas now which is a nice addition. There's a Circle K across the street for quick snacks and beverages if you don't bring a cooler.

Parking is .75 an hour.

Easy parking (although you do have to pay, its not that expensive, if you are used to UK parking charges!). We were there a couple of weeks ago, it was busier than we have seen before but you dont have to walk far in either direction to get away from the busier part of the beach if you feel the need.
We have seen Dolphins here from time to time and plenty of sharks teeth to be had as well.

The area from Venice to Englewood is famous for finding fossilized shark teeth. Walk a mile on the beach and you might end up with a pocketful of beautiful black shark fossils.

The beach goes forever, and the parking lot, the restrooms are first rate.

Although there are quieter beaches in the area, Englewood is a great place to take the cool box and watch the world go by for a few hours. The parking cost is not expensive, certainly not by European standards and is adjacent to the beach, just over the connecting boardwalks.
