“Beautiful beach”

The beach in Englewood is stunning. Miles of sand and a beautiful sunset every evening. Great place to find shark teeth.

“Favorite place, possibly anywhere!”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

This beach is just beautiful. Crystal clear water, amazing white sand, tonnes of places to set up camp and chill or play all the way along this long stretch of beach. Free parking is always a bonus. Granted the further up the beach you go there are few shops and things but as long as you stop off when you cross the bridge or come prepared with water and things you are all set for a great day!
Been here so many times over the year I have lost count, it truly is a little paradise.
Also for those in search of sharks teeth, I really haven't found anywhere better, there's loads of the "wee! things, and some not so "wee".
This beach is not just for "old people" as long as you have good company and great surroundings who needs anything else!

“Old People Beach”
Reviewed June 16, 2013

Manasota Key is worthless. This beach has one parking lot. So all of the people cross the road and set up shop in the same area. There is no room for kids to run around or adults to play frisbee or football unless you trek 500 yards down the beach from the entrance ramp. Plus, there's not much a buffer between the dunes, which are off limits, and the shoreline. That leaves a narrow spot for play. Additionally, the beach sand features jagged, sharp hunks of shell. You wouldn't want to run on this beach, and it's also very sloped. I have found the sand at Mansato Key to be much hotter than the sand at my home beach, New Smyrna Beach. It's punishment to walk on the sand at Manasota Key without shoes, and you can't run because of the hunks of shell. There are no concessions, either. So forget about renting a chair or an umbrella. You have to bring everything yourself. The water is calmer on the Gulf side. So forget about surfing or bodyboarding. The kids also won't be able to belly surf and enjoy the crashing waves. And the depth drops off quickly. So you must keep a close eye on kids.

So, I've ruled out playing on the sand and playing in the water. What does that leave? Well, you can lie on a towel or sit in a chair and read a book or soak up the rays. And those are things that you can do from your home.

“Shark's teeth”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

I think that Manasota Key Beach has the most shark's teeth in the area. Yes, you have to walk away from the heavily populated area of the beach. I live here part time and have been to many of the local beaches to compare. The new facilities (bath house, restrooms, outdoor showers, free parking) are a great improvement and a compliment to Sarasota's commitment to the people and visitors to the area.
