Stump Pass is like stepping back in time. I bought My vacation home there because of it. www.thehighviewmanasotakey.com

I walk from The Highview into this slice of paradise every time I'm there. No two trips are the same. Sometimes I will see turtle tracks that come out of the water and then return to the Gulf (see photos) Osprey flying with a fish in there claws, dolphin swimming and playing along the beach and bay. Watch fish swim by you as you walk the shore, pelicans rising high then plunging into the water after a fish dinner. This place is truly Gods back yard! If your in tune with your surroundings there's no telling what you will see...yes there is...you will see everything!

Our place was literally down the beach from this park. We approached from the beach and walked down into the Park. It is ocean on one side and bay on the other. There were alot of spots to step out and enjoy the bay and the center had a wealth of information on fish, birds and shells. It is alos wheelchair accessible. Not much time was spent in the park but it was a nice walk and I can see families with young children enjoying this park. We went simply to talk a long walk after settling in and it suited us just fine.

Stump Pass Beach is amazing. Go early, parking can sometimes be a hassle. Bring singles ($3) because if it is not busy it's a pay to play and no change provided. If it's windy follow the breeze. If it's blowing from the north walk south on the beach then north through the woods trail. In my 30 plus hikes over 16 years I have seen nesting pairs of Bald Eagles, Great Horned Owls, Osprey and the rest of the usual flying suspects of Florida. Keep an ear out for the loud foot steps of the huge box turtles along the woods trail. Occasionally a porpoise will rise along the inlet so take a few moments to enjoy the view when you get there.

You can enjoy the beach and take a walk through the brush to see a gopher tortoise or look up to see the great horned owls. The walk through the small park is about a mile in total. The beach area is wide with lots of shells.

Just make sure you pay the parking fee!!!! My brother did, but the State claimed he didn't and he ended up spending the weekend in jail over a $5 parking fee!

Fun place to hang though. Check out the bayside beach at the very end of the pass for sand dollars.
