“Wonderful park....”

Ranked #3 of 40 things to do in Englewood

As others have said, there is a $3 parking fee (honor box in which you pay and display the sticker on your rearview mirror). There are about 50 spots, I think, so if you don't go early, you may not get one. There is a nice nature trail and spots along the way where you can walk through to Lemon Bay. Some have seen manatees and dolphins but we weren't that lucky (hope to see them next visit in 2014). The beach is lovely and looks as if it would rarely, if ever, be crowded. Overall, just a nice, peaceful place to spend some time soaking up the Florida sun by the turquoise waters of the Gulf. We will surely go back!

Tucked away to the left of the awesome Englewood beach is Stump Pass-frankly, a more relaxed, and charming setting on a peninsula between Lemon Bay and the Gulf. The walking trail on the bay side can be both romantic and interesting. A good spot to look for shells and driftwood.

We liked the beach so much, as it was never too
crowded and it feels like a provincial park. We
liked to watch the sunsets from this beach.

The Stump Pass Beach Park is my idea of a park and beach Combo. We arrived around 10:30am and the lot was full. Park personnel assured us we would have a spot in under 30 minutes, so my wife went to the beach and I waited about 15 minutes. As someone mentioned, arriving before 10am is best for parking.

We walked the nature trail and saw turtles, crabs, blue herons and other wildlife. A nest in a large old tree has baby owls you could see clearly. At the end of the trail, you reach the start of the beach to your right. The whole area is beautiful. We walked back along the beach, just amazed by the sights.

When I visited there was the result of "Red Tide" with dead fish everywhere. There were also a large amount of fat looking Turkey Buzzards! Put this to one side it is a really attractive spot with plent of wildlife. Just watching the pelicans flying low over the water is a real treat. You can walk around the whole headland or through the middle. The beach is sandy and loaded with shells, a really nice walk in the sunshine and wading in the shallows.
