At first glance, this is the most precious property. Our room was very nicely decorated and with the sunken living area we were quite impressed. However, after about 5 minutes in Room 5 we suddenly changed our opinion. The cleaning crew does not know how to clean in corners. Our wicker headboard must be housing some hungry critters. They nibbled on something all night. The walls are thin so we had to endure our humping, thumping neighbors. Even our wall, headboard started shaking. Oh and worst of all, there was the scent of a woman on the sheets. Very sweet. However, that was the 2nd indication that the sheets were not clean. The first was the dog hair clinging to the sheets. Luckily we travel with our own set for times like these. I would never go back there in spite of the friendly service and quaintness.

Room Tip: Stay away from room 5

This was the most disgusting room I have ever stayed at. Walking in to room 7, you are greeted by the dank musty smell and horribly stained carpets. Looking up over the bed, you notice the ceiling looks like waves. Entering the suite further, you notice it's decorated in a country charm motif but nothing is charming. The musty smell is strong and, upon entering the small bathroom, you can see that management knows something's wrong since there is a moisture elimination container perched over the small mirror. The bath towels are thin and there is mildew on the ceiling. The floor by the shower, under the linoleum, is rotten and gives way when you step on it. Walking back to the bed to hang garments in the space provided, the floor there is sloping down to the wall. I was ready to leave at this point I was so grossed out but we had commitments and knew there wasn't much available in this area. Trying to find a redeeming feature to our abode, I went to the kitchenette and sitting area. What is most shocking upon walking in is the height if the ceiling. I am 5'1" and can touch it standing flat footed. Going to check out the room's dishes, the coffee mugs have disgusting brown stains which I hope were just coffee. When I spilled some nuts on the floor and scooped them up with a paper towel (brought by us), the dirt I also collected was shocking! Do they ever clean the floors? The couch has very thin seating although my husband and I managed to fit on it together, not very comfortably. We are not large people. The TV is nice with good reception. Going to bed, we turned down the sheets to find holes in the linens. Once we got in bed, there is a pronounced dip to the middle. We joked we were inside a taco.

The next evening, we came back to our room to find it exactly as we left it. Bed unmade and floors just as filthy.

This place needs to be shut down. It is just disgusting. I didn't see any bugs or rodents, and living in Florida, I know that takes effort. However, the lack of cleaning and disrepair of most items is alarming. I would never return and would strongly recommend no one else to either.

Two Rivers Inn is a great location if you need to be in Dunnellon.
We found it clean and the managers were super friendly and so helpful with any little thing we needed. They even printed out directions from Google maps for us so we could find our way to Disney World.
The decor of the rooms is terribly old fashioned, and looks like someone's near-blind great granny decorated it in the 1950's. It may not be modern, but it is quite well maintained.
But more importantly, the rooms were perfectly fine and clean, and very functional for a 4 day stay, and there's a refrigerator in the kitchenette (no cooking facilities but we didn't need it).
The only disappointment was that the room was never cleaned during our 4 day stay. Although they were very accommodating with anything we asked for, more towels, toilet paper, etc. The property didn't have an ice machine but they happily gave us big bowls of ice every day when we asked.
If you're looking for the Four Seasons, well this ain't it! But as far as Dunnellon accommodation goes, this is about the best you'll find.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for one at the front, facing Cedar Street. Those have a little enclosed front porch w...

My Husband and I stayed at Two Rivers for a month. We came from NY and during our transition needed a place to live. I found Two Rivers on the internet. From day one Susan the Inkeeper and her staff made us feel comfortable. We did not see one bug while we stayed there and as for the women saying the place was infested, I was there the same weekend she was and believe me her and her family were very rude. Kids were running around climbing the waterfalls even after they were asked nicely not too. So not very surprised with her comments. As for the room The Bed was very comfy Clean and very nice decor. If your looking for a Hampton Inn keep looking if you want a nice relaxing comfortable trip I advise you to take a look at this place and also right in the heart of the historic district.

We vsit once or twice a year and have always been greeted by a very friendly and helpful staff. This small hotel is pet friendly and clean. It's location is perfect, quiet but central. You can walk to beautiful shops and restaurants. The parks here are amazing too.

Room Tip: You can see pictures of the rooms on their web page.

Actually this property isn't half bad looking hotel for the price, but very much to the contrary the manager is trying to twist this to be a issue of whether or not we were difficult guests. This is not the issue. This facility did in fact have bed begs and refused the information we were trying to provide that would have given her a better idea as to how to handle the issue. Please readers beware or you might be coming home with more than a sunburn!

We stayed for the Labor Day weekend, or were at least planning on it, and had reserved two seperate rooms for three nights. Upon arriving, our friend who is an exterminator, checked for bed bugs (as he always does). Lo and behold one of our rooms was INFESTED. Bugs the size of pencil erasers, loads of eggs, and even more "droppings", in the mattress, futon, and curtains. In his expert opinion, he estimated that by the size of them, the room had been that way for 6+ months, so goodness knows how many people brought those suckers home with them. When we told the manager, she was not very accommodating, and borderline rude to us. She offered to spray the room the next day so that we could return to that room. Chemicals don't get rid of bed bugs, so we told her that, and declined her offer. Since we had a bigger room that was supposed to be housing five adults for the weekend, she said she didn't have any other rooms available for the weekend, and we ended up only staying two nights, squished into a tiny room that was available. We were still charged for one of the nights stay, even though we were in a much smaller room, and were extremely inconvenienced. When we checked out, the reservation book was out, and still had our bed bug room reserved for other customers for the following WEEK ahead!!!

Room Tip: Room 14 has bed bugs.

The Labor Day weekend is always hectic, but the guest enjoy the last of the summer on the Rainbow River, playing golf or just time away.

The family's reservation became one of disbelief.

With two rooms reserved for two nights the first room arrived around 1530 Friday, selecting their preference and leaving the other room for his brother who would arrive at approximately 1945. When the reservation was made it was stated that there would be 2 adults and 3 children in one room and 2 adults and 1 child in the other.

When the second party arrived hours later they came to the office and said there was a problem with the first room and wanted to be moved. The only room we had left was our most expensive suite which was available for only that night.

Without question, we moved them to that suite without charge for the night and told them that they would have to move to another room for the next evening because it was the only one available which would put us at "No Vacancy."

We immediately attended to the stated problem even though there was no evidence. I don't believe there is a lodging facility who hasn't done their homework on the bed bug scare, but to show how proactive we are we steamed and chemically treated the entire room then re-cleaned afterwards replacing all linens, curtains, etc. with fresh. Still, there was absolutely no evidence of bed bugs.

They certainly were happy with this complimentary arrangement. What we were not happy with was that there were friends who showed up and stayed in the rooms without registering or paying for extra guest. When it came time to clean we discovered they had cut the tie downs on our outdoor cabanas and removed lights.

We can't help to believe that the Swiger family planned to get the best deal for as many people as possible for the Labor Day weekend no matter what they had to pull.

The negative posting most likely was instigated by the young lady who left her personal set of keys on the property and demanded that we send them back via FEDEX at our expense. When we refused to pay the overnight shipping fee she was very angry.

There are all sorts of people out there and you try to do your best, but there are some who have it all planned out ahead of time. This is that type of situation and a true learning experience.

Thank you,

Susan Ritchie, Innkeeper
