Just kayaked down the Rainbow River and I can highly recommend a visit to this great place! Water is clear and beautiful with just enough current to gently move you along. Nice short distance between where you put in and take out. Took us 2 1/2 hours to kayak down. We used the service who loaded our kayaks on their rack and drove us to the put in place. Super helpful! They carried our kayaks to the ramp and helped retrieve and load them when we arrived at the exit. The park is kept clean by very strict rules regarding what is allowed to be used. All beverages must be in sports bottles or other non-disposable containers and all food must be in plastic containers, no baggies, no chip bags, nothing than is considered trash when you finish with it. They will check your containers, so do keep to the rules. It helps make the river so nice with no trash.

Saw quite a few beautiful birds and turtles. A few fish swam by and we were able to dodge the sun by paddling under trees on either side of the river for some shade. (be sure to use sunscreen!)

Can't wait to go back with my family!!

These are the nicest folks I have dealt with and they have the best prices. In addition the Rainbow river is one of the most beautiful rivers you will find. It is just a short paddle to the Withlacoochee river and there is a great little restaurant right at the launch site for great food and beverage. You will love it.

Much better than paying at the park! You end where your car is parked and don't have to shuttle back in a hot old schoolbus! Plus its located next to a restaurant and BAR! :) WIll be back soon!

We paddled the Rainbow River on a weekday, during the summer. Though there were a few people, it was not so crowded as to be a problem. We put in at KP Hole County Park and paddled down to the Rainbow River Canoe and Kayak property. While the river is very scenic the whole way, it is important to note it becomes murkier and murkier the further down stream you go. If you want to snorkel, the best section is between the Rainbow River State Park sign and KP Hole County Park. The water is crystal clear, there are a lot of fish to see and caves.
It took us approximately two hours to paddle up to the state park sign from KP Hole and snorkel back down to the county park. Remember the water is very cold and if you plan to stay in for some time, you may need a wet suit. You will also need a diver down flag. From the state park it takes about 2 1/2 hours to paddle in a lazy manner back to The Rainbow River Canoe and Kayak pull out. They provided shuttle service for my husband and myself to KP Hole.

We went down the Rainbow River from KP Hole Park 2 days in a row. The first, we rented a kayak and it took us a little over 2 hours. We stopped to snorkel and took a few detours along the way. It was awesome. The next day we brought our tubes and an extra raft to hold our cooler and dry stuff. It was a rough journey. We never imagined being so ready to see the exit of that dang river. The wind was against us, and it kept us from smoothly floating. Thankfully we had snorkel fins to use as paddles, and even then we were tired of paddling. Either their was a dock we were floating into, or we were barely moving. Also, about 1/2 hour into our float the Sheriff boat went by and someone who lived off the river yelled to them that they had just see a 5-6' python go by. Creepy. We did not stop and snorkel or take any detours in the tubes, and it took us over 5 hours to get to our exit. We paddled most of the way and no tubers passed us the whole way. Next time-if there is a next time-we said we would just wear our snorkel stuff and bring a noodle. I had a hurt foot this time and couldn't wear fins. The river was awesome, but I was expecting a relaxing 4 hour float, not a 5 hour workout. We saw otters and had a duck friend follow us for an hour.
