Great place to cool off on a hot summer day. Nice pik-nik area as well. Park entry fee was very reasonable for a family.

“This is very popular”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

A nice county park. Good parking and newer facilites. Swim in the designated area or do a snorkel or scuba drift dive. Local boat capt will take you up river to drift back-($10). Safety first-use dive flag and stay near it! Recommend you use a 3mm wetsuit for long drift trips-the water is cold year round.

“Float Away Your Stress”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

KP Hole is the entry to a 4 hour float down the Rainbow River. It is the most relaxing do nothing way to spend a day. $5 entry with your own floating device or $12 to rent a tube and off you go down one of the clearest cleanest waterways around. On a busy day you will see tubers, standup paddlers, boaters, people on the riverbank behind their homes, dogs and the occasional anhinga (bird), lots of butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies that will land on you! On a slow day (not too many tubers), you might see otters playing in the water by the shore. Snorkelers can catch glimpses of the alligator gar fish that can be found in the depths. Water temp is a constant 72 degrees year round - with the sun on your face, it feels good to let your toes and fingers dip in the water to keep cool. Just don't forget the sunscreen!

“Lots of fun”
Reviewed July 31, 2012

The park opens at 8:00am. If you go there on the weekend, be prepared to get there early and wait in line in the parking lot across the street. This place fills up quick. Bring your own floaties if you want and tie them together. Bring food and drink in non-disposable containers if you are getting onto the river. That means no bottled water, nothing in ziploc bags, no napkins or paper towel, no bags or cans of chips allowed. Use reusable plastic containers.

Pros: You can pay for the shuttle to bring you back when you finish your run that ends by the bridge. You can rent a floatie there, too. You also have access to air if you need to blow up your own floatie. They have bathrooms and an outside shower. Ability to rent canoes. Access to boat ramps and a dock for boats, canoers and kayakers.

Cons: Sometimes you can run into a jam when lots of people are trying to get in the water at the same time. Not always, just sometimes. No need to worry about disposable food if you're just hanging out at the park. Not sure if smoking is allowed in the park, but I did see someone smoking and no one told him to put it out.
