We visited Dunedin on a Sunday for a Blue Jays - Orioles baseball spring training game. Wanted to start the day with brunch so searched TripAdvisor and decided on Cafe Alfresco just a short half mile from the stadium. (Brunch served Saturdays and Sundays only, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm) Good decision.

Cafe Alresco does not accept reservations but we only had to wait 15 minutes to get seated "inside". (Waiting time for the more scenic glassed-in pavilion seating would probably have been in the order of 30 minutes.)

The brunch menu offers a good selection of dishes, including a wide variety of Eggs Benedict-themed items such Crab Cakes Benedict, creative waffles, seafood omelettes, etc. Also a special of the day which for one of was poached eggs on corned beef hash while the other chose the Crab Cakes Benedict. Both came well prepared and nicely presented.

We happened to be seated right next to the dessert display case. Great selection and we could not resist temptation. Pineapple upside down cake was excellent.. warm cake accompanied by both ice cream and whipped cream. (We paid penance by later forgoing the customary stadium Italian sausage.)

Service was friendly and efficient. All in all an enjoyable experience.

We arrived at 6:30 and waited 40 min. for a table on Saturday night, which was OK, but then we waited forever for menus. For drinks. For our entrees. Which were delicious, but we really had wanted to have a quick meal and then go see the sunset. Loved my Thai sesame salmon salad, and the Devonshire chocolate mousse cake was as good as it looked.

Don't go there if you want customer service and to be accommodated. Feel free, if you want to be displaced and unserviced. The very kind, courteous & helpful bartender was the only bright spot - & the reason we were happy to wait almost 2 hours for a party of 7 ... until our party of 7 was too much for the waiter (who took a public fit when told he was getting a 7 top). Rather than let him know it was time to put his big boy service panties on, move two square tables together & take us, the hostess instead seated two people at one of our designated tables and let us know we'd have to wait a little longer, while they "paced" the waiter. Declined to wait any longer - we happily made our way to Positanos, where they, even with a packed house, happily made room for this party of 7 ... calling us "valued customers" before we even arrived. It was a great dinner experience - no thanks to the horrible treatment at cafe alfresco.

Alfresco Cafe - right in the heart of Dunedin, FL on the Pinellas Trail offers a great menu - everything's good! There is both indoor and outdoor seating and there's always something to look at. I had a reuben with freshly made sauerkraut. I usually skip the sauerkraut but I was assured this was good and it was!

Cafe Alfresco in Dunedin offers an interesting and delicious brunch menu at a reasonable price.
We had the seafood omelette and it was excellent. We were seated in the glassed in atrium and were able to watch the walkers and bikers as they travelled the Pinellas Trail beside the restaurant. A great setting on a warm sunny day !
The service was good , but it is noisy on a Sunday morning , so don't expect a quiet brunch ,
It is conveniently located in the centre of the Dunedin downtown area and close to shops, park , marina and Pinellas Trail.
