“Best romantic restaurant in Dunedin”
Reviewed April 15, 2014

This is top of the line. Excellent food, excellent service and excellent atmosphere. Easily on of the best restaurants in the Tampa Bay area. It is small and intimate. The menu changes constantly, so it is hard to pick a favorite entre, but rest assured, they are all good. This is a place for romance, so leave the kids at home. Make reservations, otherwise it may be hard to get a table.

“First Rate Experience”
Reviewed April 6, 2014

The Black Pearl is right on Main Street in downtown Dunedin. Parking is within a block or two at several citylots. The dinning room has about a dozen tables and expresses an intimate atmosphere. Note that this establishment has a beer and wine license only, so no cocktails are available. We were waited upon by an experienced and professional server who was well versed in all the particulars of each menu item. We started with the Lump Crab Bisque which was fantastic. Plenty of crab and just the right touch of sherry. Each entre comes with a house salad of mixed greens, highlighted by goat cheese, pine nuts and touch of balsamic vingrette. Our entrees this evening were Veal Paillards and Long Island Duck. The veal was thin and tender, accompanied by a dark gravey with crimini and shitake mushrooms. The duck was slow cooked and qute tender. The cranapple graze was very tastey with the Pinot Noir we happened to carry in under our arm. The corkage here is $20 should you decide to carry something from home. While this is a pricey spot to dine, the service is excellent and the dishes are first rate. Cheers!

“this is the best place in pinellas county!”
Reviewed March 24, 2014

my favorite local restaurant since the 1980s (when it operated under a different name). if you love fine dining, this is one of the best places in the area to find it. the menu is compiled by the onsite chef who always chooses the best available seasonal selections to serve, that said the menu is ever changing and always something new to try each time you go. a great menu of many original dishes and with lots of variety. i have eaten at this place many times and i have never had anything but an out of the world dining experience. yes it is a small dining room but they do not pack the place, they actually turn people away rather than rush the patrons through the meal or stack them in. parking is around the corner but who cares, walk is worth the experience. the locale is wonderful, with the old down-town city feel. the space is beautifully done and very intimate, when you enter you feel as though your are transport back in time to lounge days of art deco's height. the china and glass wear are vintage depression era gems, which make the place setting sparkle and are simply stunning. the wait staff makes you feel like a million, as if you have your own personal butler at you service, as they preform all the old school traditions of proper services (lost art only a few restaurants continue today). call them in advance they will bring in special slices of meat for your meal that you request even though they are not on the menu. the owners are accessible and onsite. the prices on the menu are inexpensive for the quality, portion size, creativity, and level of knowledge and service. the food itself is the star, its outstanding! you must not miss this experience if you love upscale cuisine. you should make a reservation or arrive early, they are always busy!

“Black Pearl is a gem”
Reviewed March 15, 2014

Without a doubt, this small fine-dining restaurant is the best in Dunedin and in all probability, one of the best in this part of Florida. It only sits about 35 people so reservations are a must. Food is both creating and delicious. Their house wine is very good and reasonably priced. While the menu isn't huge. there is something for everyone. While this is not an inexpensive restaurant, given the service and quality, we felt the price was well worth it.
