Owner description: For over 35 years, the Dunedin Fine Art Center (DFAC) has been offering exciting art opportunities in a most welcoming kind of way. St. Petersburg Times writer Lennie Bennett says that DFAC is “the artistic equivalent of a village square,” offering quality experiences to people of all ages. DFAC offers year-round exhibitions in four galleries featuring national, regional and local artists. Classes for students 4 yrs. to 97 yrs. fill 15 studio classrooms and a changing yearly theme makes the David L. Mason Children’s Art Museum a hands-on experience not to be missed. You can take some time to enjoy a delicious lunch or gourmet coffee in the Palm Café, or search out one-of-a-kind gifts in the Gallery Gift Shop. Come out and PLAY at the Dunedin Fine Art Center and see why people say it’s where the ART is!

a small wonderful art center with a suberb cafe that surprises you with its gourmet offerings. Soups and sauces from scratch, quiches to die for and salads fresh and yummy. Great gallery of art works and a neat gift shop as well.

We enjoyed the small town of Dunedin and it's little shops and art galleries. Good break from all the crowded tourist driven places on the Florida's west coast. Worth a stop to look around.

Want to spend a great few hours? Visit the Art Center. The gift shop is fun to visit and has great prices. You can watch artists at work or meander through the exhibits and galleries. They have wonderful programs for children too. And the little cafe is great for a sweet and cup of coffee to round up your visit.

Before you even enter the art center, there is a series of glazed tiled walls outside, that are worth examining for at least ten minutes. In fact, it is worthwhile going to the center when it is closed, just to see these external walls. They are mostly the work of elementary schoolchildren, supervised by teachers, but some are by professional artists, and all are sponsored by local businesses, who presumably covered the cost of the materials. Inside the center are two large galleries, and a corridor, full of wonderful contemporary art, all produced by the very talented faculty and their students, and many for sale. Stephen Michael's cafe is a good place to grab a soup, a (rather skimpy) salad, or a sandwich in a relaxed atmosphere, surrounded by art. You may be interested in checking out some of the studios, especially the fun one for kids.

If you are looking for art to buy or instruction on making your own, the DFAC is a great place. My dad is taking art classes from a woman whose studio is there and he loves both what he's learning and the patience of the instructor. I enjoyed wandering around looking at the works by the various artists and chatting with them about their work and techniques.
