Before you even enter the art center, there is a series of glazed tiled walls outside, that are worth examining for at least ten minutes. In fact, it is worthwhile going to the center when it is closed, just to see these external walls. They are mostly the work of elementary schoolchildren, supervised by teachers, but some are by professional artists, and all are sponsored by local businesses, who presumably covered the cost of the materials. Inside the center are two large galleries, and a corridor, full of wonderful contemporary art, all produced by the very talented faculty and their students, and many for sale. Stephen Michael's cafe is a good place to grab a soup, a (rather skimpy) salad, or a sandwich in a relaxed atmosphere, surrounded by art. You may be interested in checking out some of the studios, especially the fun one for kids.
