Owner description: For over 35 years, the Dunedin Fine Art Center (DFAC) has been offering exciting art opportunities in a most welcoming kind of way. St. Petersburg Times writer Lennie Bennett says that DFAC is “the artistic equivalent of a village square,” offering quality experiences to people of all ages. DFAC offers year-round exhibitions in four galleries featuring national, regional and local artists. Classes for students 4 yrs. to 97 yrs. fill 15 studio classrooms and a changing yearly theme makes the David L. Mason Children’s Art Museum a hands-on experience not to be missed. You can take some time to enjoy a delicious lunch or gourmet coffee in the Palm Café, or search out one-of-a-kind gifts in the Gallery Gift Shop. Come out and PLAY at the Dunedin Fine Art Center and see why people say it’s where the ART is!

“Gifted faculty; gifted students”

Before you even enter the art center, there is a series of glazed tiled walls outside, that are worth examining for at least ten minutes. In fact, it is worthwhile going to the center when it is closed, just to see these external walls. They are mostly the work of elementary schoolchildren, supervised by teachers, but some are by professional artists, and all are sponsored by local businesses, who presumably covered the cost of the materials. Inside the center are two large galleries, and a corridor, full of wonderful contemporary art, all produced by the very talented faculty and their students, and many for sale. Stephen Michael's cafe is a good place to grab a soup, a (rather skimpy) salad, or a sandwich in a relaxed atmosphere, surrounded by art. You may be interested in checking out some of the studios, especially the fun one for kids.

“Art studios and instruction”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

If you are looking for art to buy or instruction on making your own, the DFAC is a great place. My dad is taking art classes from a woman whose studio is there and he loves both what he's learning and the patience of the instructor. I enjoyed wandering around looking at the works by the various artists and chatting with them about their work and techniques.

Wonderful gallery to see art from the Dunedin area. They have a super little cafe for coffee of lunch (had super Polish Saussage Sliders). This is a hidden jewel on Michigan. Great for gift buying!

IT is a beautiful facility with a great gift shop. The had a really nice exhibit of artwork hanging. I took a wonderful two day workshop here while I was on vacation. Wish my home area had a place like this!

“Art and Children's Museum”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

This is a hidden treasure.

What do you do with kids on vacation when it rains? A museum! This place is just wonderful. There are many neat features of this little place.

Some bizarre art displays. (Some NSFW!)

Art activities for kids.

A full kids museum full of interactive displays.
