We just got back from staying in the Marina Village (one floor 2 bed/2bath villa) the first week in Feb. The resort was only what appeared to be at half full which was great. It was quiet, always plenty of room at the pool chairs, and very good service from the staff. We lucked out with fantastic weather as well.
We traveled with two couples and our two toddlers (1 and 1 1/2 years). The Indies Club with the Pirate and Family Pools were fantastic for our needs. The kids had a blast which makes for happy parents too:) The marina village is just right around the corner from the Indies Club and was a nice 5 min stroller walk.
I highly recommend staying in the Marina village in the one floor villas (a little extra $) if you have small children. They are more spacious then the other 2 bed villas, have great wrap around screened-in porches, and it is nice not to have to worry about stairs. We easily fit pack in plays in each room with plenty of space to spread out and relax.
I agree with some of the other reviewers in regards to the sand being kind of rocky, etc. but this is the Florida Keys and you don't go there for their beaches. The resort itself was beautiful and the facilities I thought were very nice.

The kids loved the Dolphin Connection and we loved that we didn't have to pay a cent to walk over and see the dolphins practicing their tricks. We came by everyday to check them out.
All the staff we encountered were very nice--bartenders, front desk, and Indies Club. We hired a babysitter one night from the Indies Club and she came over with only a few hours notice so we could have an adults "night out". We appreciated that very much.
I would definitely recommend this to other families with young children/toddlers. We made most of our meals at the villa (grocery shopped in Marathon). We did have a few dinners out...one family meal at the Sunset Grille (fun for a family atmosphere and sunset view), picked up fresh fish at the seafood markets in Marathon, and also had 2 adult nights out at Hideaway Cafe and Sparkys Landing. Sparkys Landing had great fish tacos and live music--adult bar atmosphere. Hideaway Cafe had a lot of character, a nice french menu, and fantastic duck!! We enjoyed Marathon for a quick drive to whatever you needed from Duck Key.
Hope this review helps other travelers:)More
