We spent a week at Hawks Cay Resort in one of the villas at Sancuary village. Had a couple maintenance issues upon check in but as soon as it was brought to their attention it was fixed in a matter of minutes and then you would get call from staff to assure that all was fixed to your satisfaction. All the staff was fantastic from cleaning to resort workers to front desk. We will return and talked to others at resort that had already stayed multiple times. A special thanks to Andrew this morning who helped us with our check out.

Went there for two nights for an anniversay. Caught a good rate on a Sunset Villa. Cramped but clean and well located. Beach bars and drinks were excellent. I'll go back and bring my boat to the marina. Massages at the Spa were excellent!

Hawks Cay is a perfect family get away. Our kids (ages 11, 9, and 6) all loved it, and so did we! Our 3-bedroom villa was very clean and beautifully appointed. The villas area was quiet and peaceful. Fishing off the pier outside the villa was great fun; we bought bait and rented fishing poles at the resort's general store. The heated pools and the saltwater lagoon pool with sandy area provided hours of fun. The dolphin encounter was a highlight too! Food was very good and service was friendly and attentive. We can't wait to go back!

We just spent 5 days at Hawk's Cay Resort. The grounds are beautiful, kept up nicely, and offered lots of family friendly activities. The rooms, however, are tired. Very small cramped bathrooms with the old fashioned tub and skinny trickley shower head. The robes were old and torn, pillows were synthetic. I asked for 4 feather pillows to be delivered to the room, but apparently they only had the spongy ones, because I ended up with 6 of the same spongy pillows.

We rented a boat two days from the marina which was very fun, and we also chartered fishing boats for two days...also very fun. We went flats fishing with Billy on the Soc-it-to-Em, and bottom fishing with Dave on the Snapshot. We fish a lot, and really appreciated the fact that their fishing boat captains were seasoned pros that really knew what they were doing. It was a complete and total pleasure chartering from them.

We played tennis once, and found the pro very friendly and accommodating. Nicely kept and maintained courts that were conveniently located to the hotel.

Lastly, we thought the food could be greatly improved. "Tio's" - the Mexican restaurant was just bad in every way, except for the service. "Alma" was overly priced - offered a very limited menu, and disappointingly tasteless cuisine. Except for the meatball appetizer, which we enjoyed. "Ocean" felt like a cold steel cafeteria inside, but was pleasant sitting outside by the fire pit. Food, however, again was just not exciting - mostly forgettable. And we were plagued by a screaming baby our entire dinner, which was unfortunately extremely annoying.

All in all we enjoyed our few days there, but probably wouldn't go back unless the rooms were renovated.

Read several reviews before making our reservation. Have to say they were right on. Overall experience is pretty good, but as with other reviews there are issues. We stayed in the "sunset villas". Don't let the name fool you, there are not really good views of the sunset, but these are the only rooms facing west to even see the sunset on the property. There is a large old boat warehouse building obstructing views.I recommend venturing out if you want to see a Florida Keys sunset. Our villa is on (bay/lagoon) water, no beaches.
The villa itself is fairly roomy. They are two levels with a fairly large living space and dining room with a four chair table and a bar (no bar stools though) and kitchen with stove, oven and microwave on the lower floor. The furnishings are the downfall! Upkeep is an issue, the furnishings are not well cleaned or kept up to date. As with other reviews the beds are horrendous. The mattress is ok, it's the frames! Essentially a roll away bed style in both bedrooms. EVERY move makes creaking and squeaking noises from the frame. I repeat EVERY movement.
The lobby and surrounding areas are very upscale and nicely appointed. The main pool, fire pit, spa, workout area, kids area are very nice. The restaurants and bars have very good food and drinks. They are expensive but are similarly priced with other local restaurants in the Keys. They have live music and the staff are friendly and helpful. Part of the high prices are because of the fact that an 18% gratuity is built in and listed on the receipt. So as stated no tipping required including free valet parking. The tram is another helpful perk. It runs about every twenty minutes, otherwise their is about a five minute walk form our section of the property to restaurants and main pool. The general store (across the street from our villa) has most anything you will need and is reasonably priced and again the staff was very friendly.

Room Tip: Our room area was VERY QUIET. We didn't even know we had neighbors. Heard better quality beds av...

We loved the Sunset Villa's. At first we thought they weren't going to be close enough to the main hotel, but it was just a short walk. The accommodations were great. The kids loved having a huge grassy backyard to play in. We also pulled the patio chairs out to sit by the ocean. This villa had two large balconies upstairs and a deck outside. Truly lovely. The pool near the Sunset Villas is sheltered from the wind. We found that helpful when we were there. They don't service that pool with towels though so you have to walk to the kids club to get some. My biggest complaint was that we were given a bill for twice what we ordered when having some drinks and food sitting by the fire. I have no idea whether it was on purpose or not, but it was very similar to what we ordered but just doubled. The restaurant manager took it off our bill and paid for our order which was very kind. I look forward to revisiting the property, but it pays to do a little research first since there are so many choices for accommodations.

Room Tip: Choose the Sunset Villas to stay away from rain. Great for kids because of the huge grassy backyard...

We had a wonderful stay at Hawks Cay. Our Sunset Villa was perfect for our family of four and was clean, and well-maintained. We enjoyed the various pools and activities including the Dolphin Connection, which was a unique and fun experience. Although the weather was quite windy during part of our stay, we were able to find places on the property that were more sheltered from the wind where we could still enjoy swimming and sunbathing despite the weather. The staff were all professional and quite friendly. Overall we had a great time and would definitely return!
