Destin was great but the Condo Pelican Beach 114 had a lot of issues, first being the bathroom smelled like a sewer, all the remote controls were held together with tape, the ceiling light in the bedroom didn't work and the towel holder was broken along with other issues.
We had stayed here once before in the spring and it was nice 5 years ago and not crowded. The unit is updated which is nice, but if I owned this unit I would want to know if the level of maintenance and cleaning was not up to industry standards. The unit had wet slippery floors when we arrived at 4:45pm when check in was suppose to be at 4:00pm. We identified the problem when we noticed how humid it was in the room and that the air conditioner was not working properly. Upon looking at the unit we saw that the filter had not been changed in quite some time. The maintenance crew came down and fixed it promptly while we went out to the beach to let the floors dry before someone slipped and injured themselves. Upon returning I inspected the kitchen for things we would need to prepare a few lunches and breakfast for the week. There is no spice cabinet salt or pepper, no Saran Wrap, no foil, no grill utensils, no cleaning supplies (they provided some hand soap at the kitchen sink hope they aren't doing dishes with this) and there was maybe 1/3 of a roll of paper towels. I suggest bringing these items along with toilet paper (there was one small used roll in each bathroom) from your home to cut down on cost. The unit has been updated and is nice, but the master bathroom towel bar fell off the wall when I walked in the bathroom it was clearly broken and they wedged it back up instead of fixing it. The laundry area smells of mold and it is very strong odor. The kitchen had dirty dishes and utensils put away in the cabinets and drawers, so I had to wash all the stuff in the kitchen. Positive note it should be nice and clean for the next renters! If you are on a budget this is a good place ground floor close to grills, pool and beach access. There is a nice crew of workers in the summer at the beach bar and there is beach service so you don't have to leave your beach chair if you don't want to. Beautiful beach and nice clear water the resort is very close to everything restaurants, shopping, movies, harbor for fishing or parasailing or boating, water park and Walmart. The resort can get quite crowded in the summer with the beach having 3 rows deep of rental chairs. Our young adult children enjoyed the atmosphere us older folks would have liked a more exclusive beach area with less crowd.
Overall a good experience and a fun family vacation.
We enjoyed staying at Pelican Beach Resort, Our room was nice. trip advisor instructions weren't very clear on how to check-in / out. But once we got in the room we enjoyed all of our vacation InDestin FL. Can't wait to go back.
