“Exceeded my High expectations; Can't wait to go back.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2010

One word to sum up our trip to the Henderson Park Inn: fabulous. In reading the reviews on here, I had high expectations but it was even better than I had hoped. We arrived around midnight and were greeted by a very helpful, friendly, and efficient staff member. We stayed in an Executive Suite - Room 208. Our room was very spacious, the linens were quality and they provided robes upon request. We really enjoyed the whirlpool tub. The best part of the room, of course, was the great view of the Gulf - it was cool enough to sleep with the French doors open to the sound of the waves. The balcony was large and we enjoyed watching the sunset from it each night. The breakfast was FABULOUS - great selection of very tasty food. The box lunches, cookies and lemonade in the afternoon were a nice touch. The DVD collection is a nice bonus as is the oft-cited endless supply of candy bars, sodas, bottled water and coffee. They provide beach chairs, umbrellas and towels. We celebrated our anniversary at the restaurant and it was a very memorable night: sunset over the gulf, delectable food, superb service. Overall, a very relaxing vacation: small location so even when it is full, it isn't crowded or loud. The service was exceptional...the staff was genuinely happy, helpful and friendly. I can't think of a reason to stay anywhere else in Destin if you are looking for a quite weekend away with your partner. Superb!

I chose this spot for our 40th anniversary, which just happens to be Valentine's Day, so I booked early. We drove down Feb 12 from Montgomery - through the snow! By the time we got to Henderson Park Inn it was just raining. Check in was very easy, and we got help with the luggage. We had room 208 in the main bldg, with a nice sized balcony. The room was very nice, and as advertized there was a tray with wine, grapes, and a rose on the bed. There were also 2 wonderful chocolates. Happy hour each day includes wine and beer, and we met some nice couples. No children allowed here. The weather turned nice on Sat & Sun, so we were able to sit on the balcony & enjoy it. Only minor issue was it took a while for the water to get hot. The stairs to the 2nd & 3rd floors are kind of narrow - there is an elevator in the 2nd bldg. The staff was wonderfully helpful, and took pride in their work. The breakfast included was menu-based with choices, and there was a daily special. As you might imagine, it was very crowded this weekend, so we had to wait Monday. But the staff really hustled to take care of everyone. We ate dinner at the Beach Walk there Sunday, and everything was wonderful! All the ladies got a red rose and a Swaroski crystal. Check out was also easy, and we were given a refrigerator magnet with a picture of the Inn. I'd love to go back!

Perfect, perfect, perfect. It was our 30th wedding anniversary and plan to go back for our 31st. This bed and breakfast is so romantic. There is a perfect amount of privacy. The amenities cannot be beat. The beautiful white sand of Destin is truly picturesque. I could not have asked for a better experience. The staff here truly wants to please their clients. For me, going in the off-season was a good choice, both in value and the amount of people in the area. We enjoyed the beach being not so crowded. And I must mention, the food at The Beachwalk Restaurant is very special. The care that is put in to preparation of the dishes and the quality of ingredients here is truly second to none. I highly recommend The Henderson Park Inn and The Beachwalk Restaurant, you will not be disappointed.

Native Southern californians now living in land-locked Texas, we were eager for 180 vistas of blue horizons, seagulls and stretches of shoreline you could walk for miles. We weren't disappointed. Our 3rd floor oceanfront room in the main building had a juliet balcony, a window flanking each of the balcony's french doors as well as a window in the shower area (with blinds you could elect to close, of course) itself which I loved. No matter where you were inside the B&B, you always had a square of the sea. The room was extremely spacious (throw your clothes off anywhere you wish) and the beds were the right balance of firm/soft so you didn't sink or toss and turn.

The downstairs dining room boasted a curved wall of oceanfront windows to gaze out at the horizon while you enjoyed complimentary made-to-order omelets, fresh orange/tomato juices and lemon poppyseed muffins each morning. No nickel and diming here! There's Wi-Fi Internet, boxed lunches you can order the evening before for picnics on the beach, an endless supply of all-you-can-eat candy bars (Snickers, Milky Way, Twix, Three Musketeers) and water bottles in the guest fridge in the lobby area. Glasses of wine and beer early evenings for happy hour, too. All FREE (included in the nightly room rate).

The guests skew older in winter... retirees and senior citizens but there was a scattering of mid-30s couples like ourselves, so we didn't feel out of place. What I relished most is there were no kids. No crying babies or whining four year olds throwing tantrums. I truly admire hospitality management that has balls enough to adopt an adults only guest policy.

The location is tucked away from the wall-to-wall Destin condo and trodden motels strips. To the west, it's adjacent to a state park with the rolling swell of sand dunes, sea grass and splintered wooden boardwalks and to the east, there is a line of unassuming 3-story condo buildings. Plenty of outdoor seating- lounge chairs and porch swings and rockers on the outside deck. The white sugar sand is softer than baby cheeks and the emerald gulf water is so transparent and clean of debris/trash that you wonder if you're not vacationing on a movie set. We saw pelicans, elegant crane-like birds and bottle nosed dolphins. The shoreline was relatively untrafficked except for sunrise and sunset joggers/strollers and the pitter-patter of sandpiper and seagull feet. It felt like we had the beach all to ourselves. It was too cold to swim when we visited but there's an ample beach towel supply and beach chair service in season and when the sun is out.

We're liberal minded folksand even reading the local Northwestern Florida Republican slanted newspaper "Shout out" column of idiocy didn't jolt us out of our 3 blissful nights spent there. Which is saying a lot!

I first heard about Henderson Park in a magazine article and we decided to celebrate a 50th birthday there. Everything was exactly as promised on their website. The rooms were elegant and cozy with a mini kitchen, comfy bed and breathtaking view of the ocean. The buffet breakfast was delicious and the pre-ordered boxed lunches were ready and waiting for us every day. We took advantage of the bikes available and had a nice ride down Scenic Hwy 98. The staff was friendly and helpful. We felt right at home in this quiet, romantic and intimate setting. I even spotted dolphins from my balcony while having coffee in the morning. The beach is beautiful and we had some very relaxing days soaking up the sun and reading - chairs and umbrellas provided by the B&B. Wine and beer were included every afternoon at sunset. The other hotel guests were very friendly yet respectful of your privacy if you didn't feel like socializing. I was truly sad when it was time to leave and I can't wait to go back again. If you are thinking of Henderson Park, I promise you will not be disappointed. If you spend a little more for an ocean view, you can see the water from your bed and fall asleep to the sound of the waves. Amazing!

Me and my girlfriend stayed at the Henderson Park Inn in August and it was great. We did not have reservations but decided we would give it a try. The staff was great, they showed me every room they had left so I could pick the perfect room. They provided beach towels and chairs to use on the beach. The hotel is located next to a small state park and it seemed like this cut down on the number of people on the beach. It also meant we got to see wildlife. We saw fish, sea turtles, and even a fox. In the morning we wanted to eat breakfast on the beach, the staff provided us with everything we needed to make it happen. Our stay was a perfect romantic getaway.

My husband & I stayed at the Henderson Park Inn from 10/29 to 11/1. We were looking for a B&B since we wanted someone else to cook, clean and look after us for a few days rather than renting a cottage or condo and doing all that for ourselves.

The Inn is situated next to the Henderson Beach State Park which means that the high-rises of Destin proper are some distance away. The hotels on the Sandestin side are smaller in elevation and so the overall feeling is fairly secluded which is very nice.

The hotel stakes out the beach in front of the property so even in high-season there should be no scrambling for space on the sand and right now the beaches are empty. However, they cannot prevent foot traffic and the water is not that far away so it might get slightly congested with passers-by during more popular periods.

The rooms are small and curiously designed - lots of corners and crannies with very odd-shaped bathrooms that make you wonder what the architect was thinking! However they are quite well appointed, clean and comfortable. The ocean-facing balcony was a real delight for us. The beds are queen sized - even in the 'suites' - so beware if you're used to a king-size (we are).

The hotel provides breakfast, lunch, happy hour and complimentary sodas, candy and DVDs. There is currently a great deal at the restaurant where you can eat at 50% off on your second visit. We had alternative plans, so were sorry not to have taken them up on it. Breakfasts were excellent and really set us up for the day. Lunch is boxed from the local Honeybaked Ham (order the evening before). Other guests who had eaten dinner at the restaurant were highly complimentary.

The Inn does not allow children. This worked out well for us as the more mature guest list made for a more sedate pace and we were looking for quiet relaxation. But this isn't for everyone so it needs to be noted.

We gave the staff nothing major to do, but they were always cheerful and polite when we did engage them.

The Inn is on the expensive side, but there are many positives and we will (hopefully) return.
