I read the unbelievable ratings and didnt believe. I an now a believer. Go to bed because you dont want to miss breakfast. Beach is outstanding. Get a balcony. Beds are great. ocean view is a must. Box lunch are a meal in itself. will save for you will you are off property. Finally a place where they value customer service.

Room Tip: 2nd story rooms are the best

The wife and I decided to give this place a try based on the raving reviews here. We have been to this area many times, so were very familiar with the area. The beach is beautiful, but this is true for almost everywhere along this section of Northwest Florida. The Inn itself is nice, although it appears that age and lack of upkeep are beginning to take it's toll. We found several things that we felt for the price they charge should have been in better repair. One example is the coffee pot in the room was inoperable. Both my wife and I love our coffee when we first get up in the morning. At $450 a night I expect things like this to be in proper working order. We also felt that the room furnishings were a little worn and could use a freshening up. The included breakfast and bag lunch is a nice touch for sure. They also feature a free happy hour from 4 till 5pm on the deck. This again is a nice touch, as is the free soft drinks and candy bars available to the guests. It would be nice if they offered kayaks for use by the guests, or at least make them available to rent. Will we go back, maybe. If we do it will be in one of the cheapest rooms, not the more expensive rooms. You just don't get what I feel you should get for the price charged. Also, this is a mature adult hotel. The average age for the patrons while we were there, was probably 50ish. No children were there. There appears to be a repeat clientele of older guest that come every year. It is a good choice for like us, a special occasion get away, but not really a good choice for a vacation.

We booked in February for a May stay for 7 nights and had to switch rooms halfway through the stay. It is very popular and rightfully so. The views, beach and water are just beautiful. We stayed in the second building and our rooms were on the 2nd and 3rd floors. I preferred the 2nd floor room mainly because the balcony was bigger and covered. The 3rd floor room was slightly smaller, but still great! My wife woke up the first day and opened the curtains to see couple of dolphins pretty close to the shore!! That just made our whole stay!! The breakfast buffet and omelets/waffle station provided options enough for a new item each day of our stay. The boxed lunches were from Honeybaked Ham, 7-8 options. The infinite quantity of water, candy bars and soda was convenient. Beach chairs and umbrellas were promptly setup at 8am each morning. Happy hour included beer, wine and assortment of frozen cocktails. The staff was very nice and courteous. With all the provided amenities, you did not need to leave the property except for dinner.
Couple of things that could be better - Parking was tight when an event was being held at the main building, we had to wait until someone left to get a spot or park at the offsite lot, a quarter block away. Daily room cleaning didn't seem to include dusting as there were dust bunnies on the wall and bed side lamps. Bathroom toiletries weren't replaced without prompting.
These minor inconveniences however would not sway us from staying in the future.

Room Tip: Second floor rooms have larger, covered balconies.

On our road trip from our home in North Florida to Henderson Park Inn in Destin from Destin to the East Coast from the East Coast to Key West and back to North Florida. The winner is hands down HENSERSON PARK INN in DESTIN FLORIDA!!!! Henderson Park Inn is the BEST by far. They welcome you the moment you pull up and they are there to make your stay amazing in everyway and they did. The resturant there is AMAZING! Every meal from breakfast (made to order) to lunch to dinner and all of the snacks inbetween were just awesome. Thanks to all of the staff at Henderson Park Inn for making our stay off the chart.

Room Tip: You will not go wrong staying at Henderson Park Inn!

As other reviewers have observed the gulf-front location is excellent and the views beautiful.
We thought the staff outstanding. They were unfailingly pleasant and anxious to assist without being intrusive.
We had a larger room with a gulf view and found it quite adequate; however, one 18" x18" surface in the bathroom is not enough for two people. The lack of surface space was a very minor annoyance and can be easily remedied by adding another table.
This was our first stay and we will stay again when we visit Destin in the fall.

Room Tip: Pay the extra money and get a gulf-front room with a balcony.

On the edge of Destin is a Cape Cod-looking building with a sunny terrace, located directly on the white sandy beach for which the Panhandle is famous. The Henderson Inn is not flashy but restrained, somehow reminiscent of the Northeast, with an excellent restaurant in the evening, a luscious breakfast buffet, a box lunch for the afternoon spent exploring. The standard rooms are a bit small, I would recommend the intermediate category, as ours had a spacious balcony overlooking the ocean. We were greeted with a botte of wine and chocolates, characteristic of this hotel with excellent hosts and a welcoming attitude.
Would definitely visit again.

Stayed for a couple of nights in the main building while attending a wedding. Great location, right on the beach. The items included (breakfast, box lunch, happy hour, snacks, internet, bicycles) somewhat offset the high rates. Our room/bathroom was quite small and starting to get a little dated (also see room tip). The TV was smaller than my computer monitor. Front desk service was great and the homestyle southern breakfast buffet was great as well.

Room Tip: Avoid Room 201 (and probably Room 202). It is directly above the kitchen and the you can hear noise...
