The good news is the staff said that renovations would begin next month; the bad news is that the hotel NEEDED it a few months ago...mold in bathroom, stains on carpet, no fridge or microwave. That being said the staff were very friendly! There was access to a beach right down the road (bring your credit card as the concessions on the beach will NOT take cash - not even for a snow cone) Kinda overpriced - 3 snowcones and a 20oz soda was $19.50. We went to the Santa Rosa beach and had a much better time and not nearly as crowded!

Room Tip: Front of hotel gets the morning sun

Dear Mr. Davis,
I hope you had a pleasant and safe return back to Big Island, VA.
I do apologize for the inconveniences you experienced during your recent stay. As you already know, we will be starting lobby renovations in September. These are VERY exciting times for us and we hope that you will return to experience the New Courtyard Refreshing Business New Lobby and The Bistro which will "proudly serve Starbucks". Thank you for your comments Mr. Davis, we do take them to heart.

Arrived on a Thursday afternoon for three nights, two on rewards points. Check in was great, our room was ready although we were early. Room was on third floor, courtyard view. Large room for four people. It had a "chiller" not a fridge, worked like a fridge for us.
Regarding the beach, you are given access to the Sandestin resort which is nice but you kinda feel like the red headed step child. You're really not allowed to use all of the resort facilities. We went there one day and paid $53.50 for an umbrella and 2 chairs. Our second full day at the beach we drove down scenic 98 and parked at Pompano Joes. Paid $35 for an umbrella and two chairs. The beach was great! Wish I would have found out earlier we could go there and rent chairs.

A little bit drab and dated in the rooms by Courtyard standards. The lobby is nice and staff are friendly and helpful. Location is OK for beach access, the hotel guests can go to the Hilton resort beach which is about a mile away. But the one problem, at least when I went with my family was that part of the clientele seems to be young adults looking to relive some Spring Break memory. Drinking and playing music by the pool trying to pick up and get laid. My suggestion would be to spend a few extra dollars and stay somewhere where this kind of thing doesn’t happen (I suppose reliving Spring Break is most often done on a bit of a budget – more money left for booze).

Dear Mr. Peloza,

Hope you and your family had safe travels back to Vancouver. Thank you very much for taking the time to send us your comments as we do take them to heart. We do apologize for the negative experience you had at the other hotel's pool.
On another note, we have very exciting news to share with you! We are undergoing the start of lobby renovations next week at the hotel. If you haven't experienced the New Courtyard Refreshing Business Lobby and Bistro then we hope you will come back for another visit with us. The Bistro will serve breakfast and dinner and proudly serve Starbucks.

This is a nice property located on the Sandestin Golf Resort property, so hotel guests get a pass to access the resort's private beach and pools. There is a pool and hot tub at the hotel, nice. There is breakfast available, but at $10 per person, it is not worth it. The only other downside of this property is that is "Destin" is your destination, you are a good 15 minute drive from it and when the traffic was backed up Friday night it took us an hour to get from the hotel to the harbor walk area in our car.

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the pool and you will not have traffic noise as the hotel is right off of the...

We had to cancel our trip to Sandestin which was booked thru a third party called 'bookit.com'. 'bookit.com' turned quickly into the absolute worst company that we have ever had the misfortune of having to dal with. We did say Ever. But the Marriot Customer Care and the Courtyard manager at Sandestin was very understanding of the situation in cancelling our reservation. We look forward to booking directly with Marriott and staying at this property sometime soon.

Great property. Convenient to all. This was a business/vaction trip and the Courtyard fit the bill. Our room had a balcony overlooking the golf course and later in the week provided a great view of fireworks going off at the nearby Baytowne Wharf- a retail/restaurant area in the gated community of Baytowne. The Courtyard is adjacent to this Sandestin community and upscale shopping center Grand Boulevard.

Room had a king bed with a love seat, desk/dresser/closet combo. No microwave but a "chiller" for keeping beverages cool. Bathroom had traditional bathtub with multiposition showerhead. Toilet paper was 220 grit. When the air conditioner came on it was like an industrial 60 ton unit that was LOUD. I found the bed too firm, my wife liked it.

Lobby had a nice restaurant area serving continental and full breakfast with an omlett station. Fitness room was good and contained 2 treadmills, elypitical and incumbent bike. A multi station weight machine and unique dumbbells that allowed you to add weight plates up to 125 lbs each. Great pool area with lounge chairs. Good bar that had a 2 for 1 happy hout 5-7. Good drafts.

The property provided access to the private beach at the Sandestin Beach and Resort, a quick right and left at the next light. Parking in a large parking lot brought you near the beach area next to the upscale Finz restaurant. One can rent 2 chairs and a beach umbrella for $50.

As previously mentioned, the Courtyard is adjacent to the Baytowne community. The Wharf has numerous restaurants including Acme Oysters (the same one as found off Bourbon St. in New Orleans), Village Door and Hammerhead (large decks overlooking a lake), Fat Tuesdays, Rum Runners, the list goes on. This locale also has zip lines and other activities for kids. A must do.

I met GM Tania while staying and she was cordial and interested in our satisfaction. I told her I travel a lot and this was the best COurtyard property I've stayed at. Check it out if you come down to the Florida pan handle.

Room Tip: Rooms at the end of the wings. Lower floors so you can take stairs instead of Elevators.
