Pros: Atmosphere, Good Dolphin Cruises
Cons: Not Many Shops or Restaurants

This was one of only two sunny days on our trip, and we decided to go on a dolphin tour (Southern Star). It is located here at this collection of shops and eateries. The atmosphere is nice, but there is not that much to do. There are a few restaurants and some things for the kids, and a few nice shops but not like I would have thought for Destin. The marina is the best part with dolphin and sailing cruises, a pirate cruise and boats you can rent. It’s definatly a good place to go, but nothing that you could spend hours at.

The Destin Harbor Boardwalk, part of Harbor Walk Village at the Emerald Grande, is a "must see" experience for the whole family. Where else can you see fishing boats displaying and cleaning their daily catch as you walk along the newly constructed boardwalk with it's own sidewalk murals describing the local fish in it's habitat. The sunsets, harbor traffic, including pirate ships and dolphin boats and fishing charters coming and going in this working harbor offer a rare close up of Destin's fishing fleet in action. Ton's of kids activities including cheap airbrush tattoos, hamster balls, laser tag and light up toys are sure to please. Free fireworks on Thursday's and a Mardi Gras mini parade on Tuesday's are worth the trip to keep the kids occupied for hours on end. Great shopping, restaurants, snacks and open air bars with live music are available as you stroll leisurely along the boardwalk in a well lit and safe family- friendly atmosphere. Make sure to put the Harbor on your list!

We made two trips to the Boardwalk in the five days we were in Destin. It has a good variety of restaurants, shops and things to see and do. The area is clean and a fun place to people watch. We tried out the new zip line (fun, but a little pricey), ate at the Italian restaurant (very good), watched the fishermen clean their catch from the day, and watched the Thursday night fireworks which were very nice. Great place to spend some of your time while in Destin!

Had a great time at the Harbor! Great food, chartered boats, and mimes! Great jazz music blares through the heat waves with lots of bright colors! Make sure you get a Bushwacker at Harry T's and a hot dog!!!

Great to take in the shops, restaurants, and watch the boats come in with their catch of the day. Lots to do with the family on a early evening and if on a Thursday watch the fireworks in the evening as well.
