“Fun experience”
Reviewed October 25, 2011

Good food, music, dancing. Beautiful sun set. But after the sun goes down- you might as well be in a restaurant. The sea air is so nice up on deck, but there's nothing to see. Maybe the lights on the shore, but it's just black besides that. I had fun, but was ready to go about 30 min before docking back on shore.

“Worth it!”
Reviewed September 12, 2011

My husband and I spent our 7 year anniversary at Sandestin. We saw the Solaris Dinner Cruise docked at the Mariana and picked up a brochure. This was final night in Sandestin, so we decided to splurge a little! We were so glad we did! The dinner cruise was fantastic! The entertainment was lots of fun; we even danced. The food was the best food we had while in the Destin area. The view while cruising was amazing!
I was a bit concerned about being seated with other couples that we didn't know, but we ended up meeting great people!
I will definitely take the cruise again!

“Celebrate on the Solaris”
Reviewed July 28, 2011

We had an excellent date night on the Solaris during our trip to Destin. The scenery was spectacular; the food was scrumptious; and the company was stimulating.

Sunquest Cruises requires that you select your meal choice when making reservations. We chose the pan-seared chicken and swordfish. We've been in Destin for five days and these have been the tastiest dinners of our trip so far. The $65 meal includes a salad, bread, tea/water/coffee and dessert. Our dessert was strawberry cheesecake, which was decent. (We just prefer chocolate when we're going to splurge.)

The chef also prepares a range of appetizers for an additional fee. We tried the smoked tuna dip, at the suggestion of our waitress, and it was very good. Also additional are alcoholic beverages. The boat features a full bar on the second deck and it stays busy.

We were a bit unsure about the cruise-style seating - and sharing our date night with three other couples - but it turned out to be a blast! We met a duo with whom we have much in common and ended up trading contact information.

Our cruise sailed on a Tuesday night, which we later learned is the evening they feature fireworks. That was a fun surprise! Another fun surprise was seeing a group of dolphins jumping and swimming alongside our boat during the cruise.

All in all, the Solaris was a wonderful experience. Yes, it is expensive, but we would suggest saving up for this if you're looking for something fun - and romantic - to do in Destin.

“Nice -- but a premium experience for special occassions”
Reviewed October 20, 2010

My wife and I took the dinner cruise on the Solarus on a recent trip to Destin. It was our anniversary, and we thought it would be something special and out of the ordinary to do. Both the cruise and dinner start at $65 per person. That's probably not too bad considering you get a very good meal and a three hour cruise around Choctawhatchee Bay. You have to choose your meal when you call to reserve. They have 3 or 4 main courses. We went with the stuffed grouper, which was excellent. If you choose to have an appetizer or wine/other alcohol with your meal, that's not included and can quickly run up your tab (which we did!) Service was execellent -- very prompt and attentive. There's live entertaiment (well a guy at a keyboard anyway) and a small dance floor for those who care for it. The boat is three levels, and you are able to go out on the decks to observe the scenery as you like. On that note, the sun was setting as we left the docks this time of year (Oct.) so our cruise was pretty much entirely in the dark. It might be more scenic during the long daylight hours of mid-summer. There is of course the obligatory souvenir photo they hit you up to buy at the end, so that can add a little more to the final tab. Overall it was a lot of fun, but only something I would do on special occassions.
