The harbor is beautiful with some very good restaurants from excellent fried shrimp at Dewey's to gourmet at Marina Cafe. Boats, daulphin, music. Very different from just more beach though the white sand beaches are fantastic. Emerald green water like the Keys.

I'd like to commend Captain Harold Loeffler of UnReel Charters & first mate Randy for a great deep sea fishing experience for my family. We chartered a 6 hour trip for 8, with 3 of the 8 kids between 9-11 years old. Randy could not have been more efficient, encouraging & hard working. In spite of unfortunate weather that developed, and rough seas the Captain & Randy were positive & great to fish with. We were given the option to turn back due to weather and did so with about an hour left. It was a pleasant surprise to receive a phone call the next day refunding a portion of our trip. We will definitely look up the UnReel and Captain Harold the next time we are deep sea fishing in Destin!

The Destin Harbor started as a quaint fishing village and has emerged as a favorite vacation destination. Well planned lodging, goods and services have been built to meet that demand, benefiting the local fishing industry. LOTS of fishing charters available, half or full day. There is no other pass to the Gulf of Mexico near Destin. You'd have to go to Pensacola to the west or Panama City to the east, about an hour drive in either direction. Destin is our favorite, just beautiful.

We went in October which is when they have their annual 'Fishing Rodeo.' You can watch the boats weight in their catch and if you want to be a part of it you can charter out with many if the large boats and have your fish be part of the weigh ins. Most of the charters have really good rates during this time. It is also a great place to stroll with a cold beer and watch the boats on the bay and gear the sounds of the ocean. Really cool part of Destin.

A few shops and booths. Lots of boats and fish and beer crowds.
A few real nice restraunts but work still going on. Not sure if they were opening the place or shutting it down.
But it is the place to go for a boat ride or adventure in fishing.
