Not the kind of hotel we usually stay at, and truthfully when we walked into the lobby I didn't want to stay there, but figured it was only for two nights since we were in town for a family function not a vacation. After being there for a few hours, hearing the history, and exploring the hotel I absolutely fell in love with it. The lobby is very old Florida, colors are bright and it's beautifully decorated, there is always music from the 1930s or maybe the 40s playing in the background, not loud, just loud enough that if you listen and look around you can imagine how glorious it must have been filled with people in the 30s and 40s laughing, dancing and enjoying their summer vacation. The rooms are impeccable, never have I stayed in a more immaculate hotel. No carpeting, just beautiful hardwood floors everywhere. A terrific complimentary breakfast is served in the lobby every morning and the front porch is a beautiful place to people watch, have a drink or just relax. You are steps away from great nightlife, terrific shopping and delicious food. A car is needed to get to the beach but a shuttle bus is also available. This is a wonderful hotel with a history to match. No, there is no room service and no one puts chocolates on your pillow or turns down your bed, but the feeling you come away with will last much longer. Would definitely stay there again.
P.S. Great shopping right outside the door at The Earth Collection.
