“Stepping back into time but with all updated amenities”

The Colony is much more than a hotel to us. My daughter had her wedding reception at the Cabana Club 1/1/2 yrs ago and the hotel provided such a gorgeous and unique setting. All of our guests absolutely loved staying at the hotel and had such a great time at the wedding and reception. The Colony has been a family run hotel since the 20's and it's first rate. We always stay here every time we come back to Delray Beach, which is often. The bright and bold Key West tropical colors and beautiful hardwood floors make this place standout along with the great personal service the hotel offers. Don't miss this experience.

Wonderful hotel. Organic linens and totally "green". The hotel is on the National Historical Society and beautifully kept in shape. The beds were comfortable, the staff amazing, especially Chelsea at the front desk. The colors are done in fun tropical colors.
I would definetly stay there again.

The cabana which is on the ocean and is offsite needs some work though. Just a bit run down but still pleasant.

It was a pleasant surprise when we arrived at the Colony Hotel in Delray Beach, beginning with it's spacious parking lot. It's old-world grandeur has been restored, with modern touches. The lobby is big and spacious, with lots of seating. The hotel bar serves very nice drinks and it was wonderful to listen to live music on the weekend. The elevator remains manual that is operated by the hotel staff - just have to ring for it and someone promptly attends to it. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean, with lovely antique furniture. The bathroom was also a good size. My room was on the main street, so it was a little noisy, as well as hearing the freight train go by around 3:30am - each night.

The location was very convenient to restaurants, bars and shops. The hotel included breakfast, both hot and cold. The food was good and plentiful. The public beach was close by, but a pretty long walk. The Colony has a private beach that they offer shuttle service to and from, or you can drive your own car to it and just sign in. The Colony Beach and Cabana Club supplied lounge chairs, umbrellas, towels, and water toys. There is also a restaurant on the property that you can eat and charge the meal to your room. The salt water pool is big and refreshing, but in need of some restoration.

Overall, it was a very pleasant and comfortable experience staying at this hotel. I would recommend it and I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: As for a room that is not on the main street.

The Colony Hotel is a modernized (except for the manual elevator) hotel in downtown Delray Beach. The beach is a short walk away and they do have a private cabana club with a shuttle a few miles south. The breakfast was adequate although pancake or waffles would have been a nice touch. You had your choice of eating inside or on the front porch.
Dozens of restaurants and shops are within a few blocks. Parking is free in the back of the hotel.
My wife was disappointed in the lack of a bathtub and I found the large walk in shower a bit slippery. The bathroom itself was extremely large but needed some extra shelves.
The bedroom was nicely decorated and the extra large flat screen TV was most welcome.
Service was excellent and the front desk staff did not seem to mind having to run the elevator all day.

Room Tip: Rooms on the north side get less street noise.

If funky, art deco, restored old hotels is your thing, then you will love the Colony Hotel. They have done a good job of restoring the hotel and it is in a great location. The lobby is large and inviting - a great place to socialize and listen to musicians on the weekends. The breakfast buffet is very nice, too.

But, if you enjoy hot water showers, modern plumbing, a restful sleep, and quiet...then this is not the hotel for you. The street noise and lobby partyers will keep you up way past your bedtime. The beautiful refinished hardwood floor hallways create an incredible echo, so you can hear a group of ladies walking down the hall with their rolling suitcases 40 feet away. The street sweepers start early in Delray Beach - about 4:00 a.m. - and are guaranteed to wake you up if you did finally fall asleep. Want to relax by the pool or beach? Don't be late in catching the shuttle for the two mile ride to the Cabana Club. However, the Cabana Club was worth the drive! Good luck!

If you want to know wintering was like back in the 30's this is the place for you . It has been immaculately maintained and still has the manual elevator ( which an employee has to run ). The lobby is an open air lobby with beautiful sky lights and a bank of old writing desks, for sending post cards back home. There is no air in the lobby or ballroom , but the hallways and rooms are nicely cooled. The rooms have been redone and have what very well may be orignal desks and chests. The beds appear to be new and the mattresses and pillows are as comfortable as the Waldorf Astoria ( which I stayed at last month).

Room Tip: The two adjoined rooms are great for if you are traveling with older kids. They adjoin via a bathro...

I stayed here without ever seeing the place...last minute booking...it was a great place to stay...as I visited my daughter...I loved the whole 'old school' feel of this historic place...I loved the hardwood floors...and even the window air conditioning in the room...it was clean and the hotel employees were really helpful...I would definitely come again and recommend it to anyone wanting to be in the midst of the city. If you don't like walking stairs...it isn't for you but it isn't that big of a deal. Oh and by the way...the breakfast was excellent...especially sitting on the porch sipping coffee and watching the people walk by. I loved this hotel :)
