Have to agree with all the other reviewers -this place is great! Birds everywhere including babies in nests. Accessible, free, wonderful!

This is just a couple of miles from my apartment, and it was like being in another world. Many birds, nesting, feeding their young. Also saw turtles of 3 different sizes, and THE ALLIGATOR!!
Amazing...and there is a boardwalk circling the whole area. I have learned that when bird watching one must be quiet. Not the case here. Lots of conversations of the non-whispering kind? And it's FREE!!

An up front view of herons, alligators, turtles, iguanas and more. A photographer's dream. Bring the entire family. Safe walkways suspend you over and near the birds and aquatic life.

You can do as little as the walkway from the nature center, or head out to more rural areas ranging from open water, to grasslands, to woods. Great variety of birds, but you do have to look for them. Highlights including Great Horned Owl, northern shrike, red-shouldered hawk, and the purple galinule. Limited parking. Only the walkway is wheelchair accessible. Strollers/wagons would be very hard to push/pull on the paths, as they range from dirt to sand. Sun screen is a must..
