We really enjoyed the gardens with the trees, fountains, lakes and brooks. There numerous places where you ca sit and admire the site or meditate if you wish. Right from the start you have the feeling of peace and quiet. The tree are trimmed in a typical Japanese fashion. There is a small museum explaining Japanese life, a school room too. The have a Japanese restaurant but we didn't eat there. Lots of greens, a few flowers would improve the location I think. It costs $12 per adult person.

We were expecting over the top sushi and received what I consider supermarket sushi. See the lovely gardens and eat somewhere else.

The sights and sounds are serene. Make sure to linger in the bamboo to hear the wind rustling. The trail is surprisingly short at a little over a mile but still plan on over three hours for a relaxing stroll. Behind the bonsai display visit the building out in the park to learn there this a Japanese garden here in the first place. And spend a few minutes after your tour to see the museum inside the visitor center, also a nice collection of art.
we also had lunch, beautiful view and good Japanese fare but not the Top 3 experience touted by the Food Network, maybe Top 20 if you include the view.

Beautiful place to visit and take a nice stroll through the gardens. I spent about 4 hours here with my daughter and loved all the attention to detail that the workers give each aspect of the garden. Perfect location for Amateur photographers.
