We have wanted to see Morikami for several years, and finally got the chance last month, and it certainly didn't disappoint. It presents a great opportunity for photographers and a relaxing day at a highly manicured park. We went for both weekend days, and felt like we ran out of time both days.

Quite expensive to get in and not really that much to see. Some of the gardens are under renovation so you couldn't do the circular walk. Relaxing environment though,

September 11, 2011 - My boyfried and I went to Morikami for the first time on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 because I wanted to be somewhere that would be quiet, peaceful, a place for reflection instead of sitting at home watching the television. I was pleasantly surprised to find it to be exactly what I expected. So aften places don't turn out to be what you thought there were. There are beautiful gardens surrounding a lake. The walking trail has a number of places along the way to sit, relax, meditate, think or just be still. We spent several hours there wondering through the gardens and the museum. Learned a bit of history that I had not known before about a Japanese colony settling in that area of Florida many years ago and also I now know who Yamato Road is named after. At the end of the day we enjoyed sushi at the cafe there - which was excellent. I would highly recommend visiting there. I will definitely go back again.

We spent 3 hours here walking the gardens and enjoying the overall pleasant experience.
Such a scenic venue...took so many photos!
The only draw back to our visit was that there was some construction going on which prevented us from seeing the Bonsai collection up close. Also the footbridge was closed thus we had to back track which in the end was ok since we got to see everything again from the opposite direction.
We were there at a very quiet time and there were no extra activities or performances for us to enjoy. It would have been nice to have seen more Asian docents available throughout the day to talk to.
The Bento Box lunch at the cafe overlooking the gardens was most enjoyable!

We visited the Morikami gardens on a special evening of strolling the gardens and eating sushi. The only problem was they were doing a little construction, the day light was fading and the trail had to be back-tracked. There was no sign noting there was no way out on the trail, so people were stuck in the dark retracing their way back. There is a great museum store. Read all the museum history. So very informative and interesting.
