What a beautiful little place tucked into the lush tropical paradise of Delray Beach Florida. Set among a tropical forest of lush greenery and flowers, this small but extremely elegant hotel and restaurant is a perfect place for a weekend getaway. It was within walking distance of the downtown area, and taxi service was available if you wanted to go to the beach. The complimentary continental breakfast was certainly much better than the normal hotel continental breakfast. Had lunch there one of the days of our visit, and it was just delicious. I would visit there again when in town, for sure!

Don't judge a book by its cover! Arriving at the residential side street location of Sundy House, one sees what appears to be an old, small Victorian house on a small plot of land, surrounded by a clutter of trees, bushes and floral overgrowth. Once the valet ($5 charge) takes the car and we enter the "Registration" area (since this is a small inn as well as a restaurant), the true nature of this magnificent establishment becomes clear. The staff (hostesses, waiters, bussers) are delightful and competent. The food and beverage selections are fabulous.

Our party of four was shown to a small but charming and quiet dining room, believing that this was the only "restaurant area" at the inn. Only after the meal was over and we wandered through the inn did we realize the true nature of the "house". There are several small dining rooms (indoors and out), a separate good-sized bar/lounge and, astonishingly, there was a wedding going on in a large area in the rear.

Very nice grounds and dining room overlooking the garden. Unfortunately the evening we were there, there was a loud live band in the adjacent room. Fortunately, when the doors were kept close, it was bearable. The menu is attractive. Our snapper with butternut squash and spinach was very good. The plates are work of art. The desserts are also decorative pieces on the table. Wine is expensive. Valet parking on site. Street parking a bit difficult.

As the director of the Palm Beach County Chapter of Tasters Guild International, I am writing about my experience this evening at Sundy House. Chef Linda Autry prepared a phenomenal menu, paired with wines from a local importer/distributor Rare Champagnes and Wines. She served a fabulous pickled shrimp appetizer, followed by Cobia, a local Florida fish, which was equally wonderful. Dinner was served by a very efficient and friendly wait staff, headed by Wait Captain David, who was as fabulous as the chef. A Ricotta cheesecake dessert prepared by the pastry chef equaled the other portions. The restaurant is beautiful and clean. If you are in Palm Beach County, you don't want to miss Sundy House.
