My mom and I stayed here last week and this is the type of hotel I enjoy staying at. Comfortable, quaint and clean. I prefer small boutique hotels over large hotels like the Marriott. The room was very clean and the bed was SO comfortable! You can even purchase the mattress from Serta if you'd like. Serta make the mattresses for the hotel. We stayed in unit 11 on the first floor. Very spacious for 2 people. It has a full kitchen with dishes if you'd prefer to eat in. They also had beer, champagne, wine and some light snacks in the room that you can pay for at the end of your trip. There is so much character to this little gem of a hotel. There are a ton of flowers and palm trees all over the property with cute little signs throughout. There are 2 salt water pools and a tiki bar. The tiki bar was not open every day that we were there but it was open in the evening on Friday and all day Saturday I believe and 2 of the nights they had some entertainment. It's not a place that you go and throw down and sit at the bar all night, thank goodness. It just adds a nice touch to the environment. They have a sound system throughout the property and they played some light music all day long. It's just a very relaxing hotel. They have a nice little breakfast every morning from 9:00-11:00 with cereal, juice, coffee, bagels and fruit. I liked that it started at 9:00. I hate when you go to a hotel and the breakfast starts at 6:00 a.m. and ends at 9:00 a.m. Who wants to get up that early on vacation. It was a nice time to have a breakfast. The eating area is very comfortable with lots of tables and chairs and there is even a hammock.
The staff was very friendly. I didn't need much so I did not have to interact with the staff very much but I did talk with one of the bartenders one night while we sat at the tiki bar and she was super friendly as was the rest of the staff.
The location was perfect! Very close walk to the restaurants and shops on Atlantic Ave.
If you like a comfortable, clean and relaxing then you will love this hotel!

Room Tip: Unti 11 is great! Very spacious!

Just got in the door from Cranes. Its still the nice place I stayed at five years ago. The management is different. They go out of their way to help you. Manny the grounds keeper is a really nice guy to talk to about the area and works hard all day. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would recommend them to anyone. Nice clean grounds, you can bring your pet and the place was spotless. NO poo around. Two great pools. No worries, Cranes is a great place.

I stayed at this charming hotel in April with my friend for the first time and was delighted with everything about the property.
The rooms are luxurious, clean and well appointed.
The staff are just excellent, friendly, helpful and obliging.
Cannot understand why Trip Advisor only rates this as a 3 star. It is definetly a minium 4 star hotel and probably worth 5 stars.

Room Tip: All rooms are very good.

We stayed here for just two nights in April. Wifey says this is the one of her favorite hotels she's ever stayed at. I can understand why.

Location: 1 block from shopping and restaurants on Atlantic Ave, and 1 block from the beach. The city of Delray, and walking along Atlantic Ave reminded me of the upscale beach neighborhoods of Los Angeles, like Laguna Beach or Marina Del Ray. There's art, fashion, good food, and lots of people out enjoying the beautiful weather. The beach itself is gorgeous and packed with people. The water is a beautiful azure blue, with gentle to medium waves, and the sand is soft and white. This hotel could not be better located.

Outside Space: Gorgeous gorgeous grounds, lush with tropical plants, two saline chlorine pools, one with a waterfall, several little nooks in the garden with plentiful outdoor seating, tables, benches, even a hammock for 2!

The rooms: they only have about 30 rooms, making this an intimate boutique hotel, very quiet and not at all crowded. Even though they were fully booked, it felt like we had the place mostly to ourselves. Most of their lodging is 1 or 2 bedroom suites, although they have a couple smaller rooms as well. Of the smaller rooms, the BeachHouse rooms and Cabana rooms are the same size, with the difference being that the BeachHouse has a full kitchen while the Cabana has a kitchenette.

The amenities: The bed is very soft and very comfortable, as were the plentiful pillows. The shower was big enough for two, with mediocre water pressure. We appreciated having a safe in the room that's big enough to store a laptop or two along with a purse and other valuables. There's a small cable TV in the room, but we're not here to watch TV. Our room had a fully stocked kitchen, including stove, full sized fridge and freezer, coffee machine, etc.

Food and drink: The Tiki bar is open Friday and Saturday night, with a free drink coupon for guests. The free continental breakfast buffet was served in a beautiful outdoor gazebo space. The food was your normal continental breakfast fare: yogurt, muffins, bagels, coffee, juice, cereal, and bananas. They have a couple charcoal BBQs out by the pool that some of the other guests were using to grill up a nice meal for themselves.

Special touches: The staff were super helpful, warm, and friendly. They went out of their way to make sure all our needs were met. We were there for Easter and loved the Easter egg hunt and gourmet cupcakes in our rooms. This kind of special treatment really made us feel like royalty during our stay. We also took advantage of the chairs and umbrellas for guests to bring to the beach.

While I'm definitely giving Crane's BeachHouse 5 stars, there are always opportunities for improvement:

When booking our rooms online, It took some fine-detail reading of the website to figure out the difference between the Cabana and BeachHouse rooms. This could be made much clearer.

There's free WiFi throughout the grounds, which is great, but the DSL was shockingly slow. It was nearly unusable. I tested download speeds to be about 250kbps, which is atrocious. It took minutes to pull up a website or download an email. Skyping or streaming music or video was out of the question. My iPhone only had 2 bars and it was getting speeds 4-5 times faster than this over AT&T's crappy 3G cellular network. If you plan to do business during your trip, this may be a hinderance.

The continental breakfast was fine, but with the rest of our stay being so amazing, it stood out as being just okay. I would have loved to see it be exceptional. Fresh baked muffins or pastries and assorted fresh fruit would have gone a long way.

In summary, I would DEFINITELY stay here again and recommend my friends and fellow yelpers stay here. We loved it! Thanks so much for a wonderful vacation Crane's!!

For years we have visited the lively Atlantic Avenue scene in Delray Beach, enjoying the smoothies at Nutrition Cottage and the blackened dolphin sandwiches at Doc’s, while staying elsewhere. Finally, we found the dog friendly, boutique apartments at Crane’s BeachHouse through Trip Advisor. We quickly have become regulars, staying there for a week in November and seventeen nights in March. The allure is simple. You get tropical gardens, spacious one-bedroom and studio apartments, a quiet and safe location one block from the beach and one block from Atlantic Avenue, and a caring staff. We also love the tiki bar and heated pools. Dogs are allowed to stay in the ground floor apartments for a reasonable charge.

There is a neat, funky, private vibe about the hotel that we find irresistible. The beds are also extremely comfortable with excellent quality linens. The WiFi is reliable, and it is really handy to have a parking spot so close to busy Atlantic Avenue. We’ll be back!

Room Tip: Book well in advance during the high season.

Crane's Beach House is so much better than their website could ever describe or show. It is truly a hidden gem, nestled in a lushly planted oasis that provided a comfortable and cozy get away...yet close to everthing. It is walking distance to the beautiful Del Ray beaches and restaurants and shoppes. It was not crowded or loud but instead provided a relaxing atmosphere and everything you could ever want while on a vacation. The staff was only outdone by the many guests we met every day at breakfast and at the pool. The Tiki Bar happy hours were great fun and located steps from all of the rooms. Can't wait to go back next year!

Room Tip: Every room is as charming as the next!
