“Whatta HOOT!”

This grocery store (and The Girls about a 1/2 mile south on Military Trail) is so much fun! The displays of baked goods; prepared foods; produce, etc. are works of art! A real tourist attraction as well as some yummy foods to eat!

The Girls is mostly candy and a large selection of ice creams, but don't miss the birdland in back...birds in cages! Free and the kids and grownups all love!

Grandma's Bakery next door has a brisk business of you-guessed-it baked goods!

“Awesome little market”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 27, 2013

We bought a bunch of stuff for lunch for 7. The cold cuts are great. They were giving samples of everything, so I tried some fruit that I've never seen before. We ended up with fresh cut pineapple and guacamole, quinoa salad and their special roast beef. All was excellent. Great wine selection and deals, no other liquor though.

Parking lot is crazy! Just be cautious.

“Proceed With Extreme Caution.....”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2013

This is a highly chaotic produce/meat market/bakery/cheese shop. The experience starts with navigating the parking lot (my suggestion - just head right to the very back of the lot - behind the building). Once you park your car you need to proceed with caution as you walk to the store entrance. There are TONS of elderly people in cars darting around the parking lot AND there are TONS of people walking around the parking lot to and from the entrance.

Ok - phew - you made it into the store. Now the real chaos starts. Be prepared there are TONS of grumpy people all armed with shopping carts and there is no order to the place - it is a free for all until shopping cart grid lock sets in and the aisles are so narrow it does not take much to bring everything to a stand still.

Yes, the prices are good. Yes, the produce is beautiful and plentiful. The meat market was very good as well (we purchased some of their gourmet hamburgers - soooo yummy). All of the prepared foods looked amazing but it was too difficult to get your order filled.

I might go back to The Boys Market in the middle of summer right when they open as I am guessing that it might be less congested and chaotic. It was too much of a shopping adventure/ shopping cart demolition derby for my tastes. Made me appreciate the local grocery chain where "shopping is a pleasure" because The Boys Market was NOT a shopping pleasure! This place should be rated at least above average but it was so out of control that it was a distraction and I could not do the shopping I wanted to do - I fault the store management for the atmosphere and lack of control.

“Good shopping at a risk”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 8, 2012

OK, I can buy some of the other reviews in respect to this marketplace when it comes to some good looking produce at good prices. But, it takes some risk to navigate around the place, and as a result it makes one think if it is really worth the effort for the few bucks saved.

Just coming into the parking lot is stressful. It's very compact, cars all around looking for spots, some parked along the entry lane fence, and many elderly people who can be difficult enough on the streets. In their parking lot you're taking you and your car potentially in harms way. Every time I've been there I have seen an accident being written up.

Inside the aisles are super narrow, and the people are buzzing around like it's the 95 highway during rush hour. My wife and I have been hit several times by shopping carts handled by those who are not paying attention to the crowd. The check out counters are squeezed in from across the end of aisles without very much room to avoid the oncoming hoard looking to pay for their discoveries.

Sure, many of the prices are very fair though I have seen equivalent ones in a Publix. The fish is not very appealing, and some of the bakery goods look to me like they've been around for a while. Look, it's an experience, you can get some good things or deals, but the question is, is it it really worth the hassle. To me, it is not. For anyone who chooses to go or likes it, make sure you keep your head up!

“Gotta Experience This Produce Market”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 25, 2012

The Boys Produce Market is an indoor year around market. There are usually lots of people and they have very good produce. The prices are really good compared to other markets. One of the best features are the food samples and freshly cut and peeled pineapple in bags. The deli section is very yummy and its hard to resist taking something home. They have a huge selection of cheeses to choose from and fresh dips. If visiting or if you live here, check it out.
