We stayed in the newly remodeled 'Captains Suite' for 4 days. We brought our boat with us and enjoyed the convenience of a boat slip on the property. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and the accommodations were great!! The view from the private deck overlooking the St. Johns river was wonderful and the fishing in the river was good.

While calling this property a resort is a bit of a stretch, my room had been recently remodeled and had a very nice tiled shower. It is a very clean and updated property with attractive grounds. The setting on the St. Johns river is beautiful.

The ferry to Hontoon Island State Park is within walking distance. You can rent boats or arrange river tours directly from the hotel.

Make sure you call ahead if you are arriving late, as the front desk has limited hours.

You will not find any five or four star hotels in DeLand and this one has way more character than the other options. You should give it a try if you are staying in the area. I plan to stay there again the next time I visit DeLand.

My husband and I got together with six of our friends at the resort. We rented the executive suite, which was extremely nice(almost like a home) and was very, very comfortable. The group rented a pontoon boat for the day and were lucky enough to have perfect weather....amazing day on the St. John's river. This was a fun get together for everyone. Will definitely return for another time with friends or with just us! Assistant manager, Karen, needs to smile and be more cordial to the guests but all the rest of the staff was nice, friendly, and extremely friendly and helpful. For the bargain hunters out there this is a really good off season deal!

Room Tip: The executive suite is like a home....just beautiful. The Captain's suite is also fantastic if you only need one bedroom. Both are on the river with great views.

If your looking for a great place to relax and fish, this is the place for you. The Captains suite is very Top Shelf ,( fireplace, kitchen large living/ dining room with fireplace ) and the views of the St.Johns River is beautiful from your private deck. The pool is close to all the rooms and is well kept .The staff is very warm and welcoming yet very professional. We stayed for four weeks this winter and lost all track of time, almost forgot to go home.

Room Tip: Let the staff know what your looking for, this is no cookie cutter resort. Do you need only a room, do you want a kitchen, dock for your boat,to rent a boat or pontoon or a room with river view?

When the Holiday Inn in Orange City was charging ridiculous rates because the races were going on in Daytona, I decided to try something more unique for a weekend stay while visiting family. I grew up down the road from Hontoon Island but had never stayed at the marina. It was a really nice and relaxing experience. The folks in the store were all super friendly and helpful.

The rooms may be dated, and the beds a little small, but so worth it. The great St. Johns river is right outside your backdoor. You can rent a pontoon boat, fish there or over on Hontoon Island. Hontoon Island ferry dock is within walking distance and the island is a cool experience with a small museum, camping options, fishing, etc. We ended up at Shady Oak tavern for breakfast one morning. Great view, cozy little dive with great people and good food.

We'll definitely be back to the Hontoon Landing Resort. We stayed in one of the rooms in one of the large buildings, but would also like to try the stand alone cabins too. Our stay was way better than any other hotel experience we've had in the area. You'll love it.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 10 and loved it.
