Nowhere near as picturesque as Chautauqua, NY or Mt. Gretna, PA, but some very nice victorians and a pretty drive that won't take very long.

The houses, churches and buildings on Circle Drive are beautiful. We had no idea De Funiak had anything like this until we saw it on the news. We went to the Krewe de Yak's Mardi Gras parade and it was just so fun! We had a great time!! The lake is pretty, the houses are amazing and well-kept and we can't wait to see the lake in the summertime when the leaves are blooming and the lights at Christmas. We sent my parents up here to see it the next day and they raved about it.Even if you don't care for the downtown area or the outlying strip malls you really have to see Lake DeFuniak, it's just amazing!

This town is in dire straits. The Main Street buildings are mostly abandoned. As for the historic district, it’s beautiful. If you love history, it’s worth the drive. You can’t go through the houses, but the drive around is very nice.

I've been hearing about how great the Defuniak Springs Christmas light display is for years and finally we had the chance to visit. While it was nice, I expected more. We visited the day after Christmas and a lot the lights were already burned out. I would say a good 10 percent of the bulbs were out, which was disappointing. We took the carriage ride, which is very nice but a little pricey.

If you're in the area during Christmas holiday season you must check out Holiday tour around the center Lake and park. 6 million lights plus Christmas displays with all the Stately Southern mansions on the circle drive takes you back in time and erase the commercialism of the holiday. Horse drawn carriages and music playing sets an amazing experience.
