I loved the little town of Defuniak Springs. This was my first time there. I loved looking at the rich history of the town, the old houses/buildings. The train depot is neat as were looking in all hte antique stores. I will go back again when I have more time to spend exploring!

Beautiful drive around the lake and all the history about the homes was so interesting! The lake is beautiful and a great place to watch the sun go down.

I grew up here, and not a lot has changed, which is great. The library has a new garden and the lake has new docks, but the historic homes are just as I remember.... and well worth a visit.

We almost drove by without seeing the sign. My wife noticed a small "Historic Site" sign and I made a u-turn. We drove around the little lake and enjoyed seeing the historic homes. It was dark and it seems that no one was home, because only a few homes had lights on. The library was closed but looked well preserved. We might visit again during daylight.

It is probably not worth driving any long distance, but if you are near, it is well worth the 20 minute diversion.

DeFuniak Springs has a very interesting history as the "winter home of Chautauqua". There are many beautiful old homes around Circle Drive. The body of water in the middle is a perfectly round 1-mile diameter natural lake— quite unusual. Don't miss a visit to the charming DeFuniak library along the drive with its collection of medieval weaponry.
