We stopped here on a bicycle ride and were surprised it's only beer!
We arrived just before noon and there were several regulars already in their seats.
The bartender didn't seem to care if we were there or not, but she and the regulars were very interested in rehashing the US Marshals who had visited the bar the night before looking for another regular. As the stories about criminals and local theft continued, we quickly paid and left.

No it's not fine dining, but the storefront does not give the impression of L'Espalier, so you should know what you're walking into. Rattlesnakes is a Mexican themed Restaurant/Bar in a group of shops in a beach community. O.K. so there are lots of marinas, boutique hotels and beautiful homes nearby. There are also plenty of upscale restaurants in the area if that's what you're looking for.

We went to Rattlesanke Jakes on a Monday evening. The place had a warm, corner bar atmosphere. There are some interesting pictures, posters, etc. on the walls and ceilings. There were a number of locals at the bar, and a few couples spread out through the place. Two other patrons appeared to be "frequent visitors" and probably walked to and from the place. I would imagine, this is typical of Jakes. If you like servers with "14 pieces of flair", or bartenders juggling bottles, or "Hello my name is ___ and i'll be your server", then go to Friday's (is there a Friday's in the area???).

The food wasn't the best that I've ever had, but it wasn't bad either. Prices are reasonable, and service is good. Bring somebody adventurous and have a fun evening at Jakes. The servers can be very friendly and accomodating, but if you're snotty or demanding maybe you'd be better off at one of the Corporate Restaurant Concepts.

It's unfortunate that several reviewers had bad experiences with the Mexican food, because they missed some of the best fish in the area. While this place is billed as a Mexican restaurant and most of the menus is Mexican food, my advice is to forget the Mex and go for the fish. It is always fresh - never frozen - and truly fresh fish can't be beat. As our waitress told us when explaining that they did not have snapper that day: "if we can't get it fresh, we don't have it."
I thought the prices were very reasonable and the mahi mahi was excellent.
Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We had a great time.
The ambience is so-so, but fine for a casual dinner spot.
We will definitely be back.

Horrible service and very over priced! If you want good Mexican food without getting ripped off go across the street to Agave. Our server told us the fish tacos were mahi... It was tilapia! The whole experience literally left a bad taste in my mouth. I refused to pay 4 dollars for a tilapia fish taco that smelt like public bathroom! Our server looked at us like we were crazy... Never going back

This place was very popular, but I was put off from going inside due to the snake skin draped across the door and front window of this place!
