“Old, dirty & poor service”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2010

My husband and I come every year for a convention and this year, to our dismay the rooms were obviously not being maintained or cleaned. The front desk staff was not helpful at all. I am extremely disappointed and disgusted overall. When I checked into the room there were urine stains on the toilet. Barf.

I've been here before but, this time seemed different. The staff was friendly & very helpful with my lost luggage. The location is minutes away from the beach & other local attractions!

have always stayed at this location because its on I-95 and easy to get to Miami or West Palm. Always prefer Deerfield Beach hotel but it can be higher "in season". Best time to book on the beach at Embassy Suites appears to be in the winter. Best time to book at this Hilton is in April through September months. Big hotel but not a lot of great amenities for the business traveler worth talking about.

The parking for this hotel is free but very small and inadequate. 1. Not enough parking when there is any kind of event/conference. 2.***There is a country club next door and their golf course wraps around the hotel parking lot, which is a kind of "t" shape around the building. Posted signs have the usual discalimer for damage/theft/ don't leave valuables, etc. Look more closely and you see mention of damage from golf balls. The fence between the parking lot and golf course is not tall enough. My windshield got a HUGE crack and I even found the offending golf ball by the car. They must deal with this on a regular basis based on their response (or lack thereof.) The hotel staff site the sign and put the blame on the country club, the country club manager said "we were here first" and that it's the hotel's responsibility to provide better fencing. The country club takes no responsibility for their golfers violating others, and the hotel does not seem interested in protecting their guests (or their guests' cars.) A hotel staff member said the hotel "talks" about adding a net over the fence but never gets around to it. It's an insane situation, the hotel denies any liability and the average person (like me) wouldn't think twice about parking in normal designated parking spots with everyone else. All I can say is don't have a vehicle there or only park right in the middle of the lot, which is almost impossible. Other than that, the first night I was there (arrived late) the room was filthy and the cleaning had not been finished, but was left as ready to check in. Also the AC vent rattled all night and I got literally no sleep. They seemed mostly unconcerned when I reported these the next day, but did fix both and it was clean and quiet for the rest of the stay. If only the car had fared as well....

The reviews from other travelers sum up the hotel nicely. It's an older Hilton, but clean and service is at the forefront of every employee's interactions with guests. We were there for a state conference and the hotel is clearly unable to handle large crowds. Cars were parked in the street for 1/4 mile. The boxed lunches were okay, but a bit boring. My two meals in the hotel restaurant/bar were exercises in frustration. I requested a "rush" on my dinner order because I had to present a workshop that evening. The waiter brought my order AFTER everyone else's in the restaurant. The breakfast waitress clearly suffered from dementia. We repeated my omelet order 4 times and they still got it wrong. I requested water 4 times and never received it. The manager gave me a 50% discount on breakfast after I complained.

Yes, I would stay here again on vacation, but not at a conference.

The hotel looks pretty nice on the outside.... Location is very convenient to I 95, making it a great location for the area....

On the inside, the hotel looks as if it is stuck in the 90's, especially the lobby and meeting rooms.... If you like pinkish/orageish and gray marble, you are in the right place..... I would probably not hire the interior decorator for any upcoming projects.... But that is all a matter of preference....

Check-in was effiecient and the GSA was very friendly and made sure that I knew everything about the hotel. I was "Upgraded" to the VIP floor. It is a private floor with a code in the elevator.

The room had SOME updates, but it was not quite like the pictures on the website. Some of the furniture was the same.... It was a middle connector, meaning it had connecting rooms on both sides. The TV was older for a Hilton (Not the flat panel that many have now) and the desk looked like it had been partially sanded but not restained.. Lots of nicks and all. The phone is ancient. The bed was comfortable as usual, but it did not have a traditional headboard like most hotels. It was more of a spindle and the bed did not line up with it, almost making it look like the bed was smaller than a king. The bathroom vanity was upadated and all seemed to be clean.... Bathroom was well lit. and stocked.

Overall the room just felt old and not very well maintained. I did call the front desk to ask if they had a more updated room, to which I was told that all rooms were alike. This is not true.. A quick trip down the hall with housekeeping leaving the doors open proved that.... Seeing that this room was on the VIP floor, I could not help be wonder how the other half lived, but I did not make it to another floor to check.. :)

The exexutive lounge was closed due to the weekend, so they gave me continental breakfast coupons for the restaurant. The VIP floor does have cute little glassed in rooms at the end of the hall that you can relax it. IT was kind of neat.

The pool looked nice, though we did not go in. The deck seems spacious and great for relaxing.

In the morning, we had breakfast in the restaurant. It was a typical Hilton Breakfast. Food was good and the corned beef hash was a nice feature. There are cold meats, cheeses, fruit, and the usual breakfast basics. The staff seemed friendly.

All in all it is a fair hotel that needs updating and a little TLC. I would avoid room 719, but not a bad hotel for a night or two. I am not sure that it is worth the rates that they are selling. We stayed using points, but the rates for the same night online were in the upper $100's. I would probably not pay that type of rate for this hotel in the future.

I will probably check out a different Hilton in the area on my next visit to get a comparison.
