I went this Chrstmas Day from Leesburg to DeBary at the Gemini Springs Park as a starting point for another Rails To Trails And Traillink bike ride. My goal is to eventually ride all the Bike Trails within 50 miles from my home in Leesburg, Florida.

The Gemini Springs Park is a nice park that has within it Gemini Springs. You can see the spring heads and they empty into Lake Monroe which is adjacent to the park. There are camping areas, restrooms, large open picnic and covered picnic ares as well as a nice playground for kids. There are quite a few walking trails, both paved and unpaved, as well as connections to the southernmost section of the Springs To Springs bike trail. The Springs to Springs Bike Trail is broken up into three sections at this time with ongoing plans to connect it together sometime in the future. The Trail leading west from Gemini Springs is about 6.5 miles long and fairly smooth asphalt that terminates at another trailhead access. It is nice and winding, mostly through heavily wooded and shaded areas and a beautiful and interesting, though mainly flat and easy ride.

Eastward the Springs to Springs Trail joins up with the East Central Regional Rail Trail at the Green Springs Park and extends eastward about another 10+ miles to one of it's current cut offs. This is another trail with plans to be joined together in the future but that is now broken up into several sections.

This end of the Springs To Springs Trail is not as scenic and passes under I4 at one point. It runs through mostly urban areas paralleling a highway for some distance. Again it is mostly flat and a good yet not as scenic ride with mixed concrete and asphalt.

Traveled by bike from Green Springs out Lake Monroe Park and back. Seemed like half the trail was next to an extremely busy and noisy boulevard. Advise sticking to the Green Springs out to Osteen part of the trail which is off-roadside and goes through wet lands and animal pastures.

The trail head is just before the entrance to Gemini Springs on Dirksen drive.
The parking lot is small and fills up from time to time.
If you ride in the evening before the sun goes down, you will almost always see wildlife from deer to rabbits, armadillo's and i even saw a small coyote here.
You can ride all the way to Lake Monroe on this trail if you want to go that far.

We are fortunate to have one of the prettier sections of bike trails in all of Florida right here in debary. The section from Dirksen drive to lake Monroe park is very diverse. Open fields to jungle like conditions. I’ve seen all sorts of wildlife. We have a resident bald eagle. Find him sitting on top of the highest electric power tower. I’d give this trail a 5 if they would finish the connection to blue springs.

The spring to spring trail is a paved 2-3 mile route that takes you from Gemini springs to lake Monroe. Almost every time I bike this route I see some type of wildlife from rabbit to armadillo to the occasional dear. Once I even saw a bald eagle flying overhead. The trail has very little incline is smooth and is a great place to just get away.
