I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Daytona. The welcome from the lady at the front desk was phenomenal, the room was a great size, the conveniences were outstanding. ..indoor and outdoor pool AND right in front of the beach/ocean. Location was perfect. I can't say enough good things and I can't wait to return!

We decided to book with TWOH for two reasons: reviews of the employees and price. For our 3 night stay, it was quite nice and the employees were very friendly (especially Gwen, Happy Birthday!).

Now the hotel is aging, no doubt. But everything worked and was comfortable. There was some rust on the hinges, the stove older, electrical wall plates were a little askew, the sliding door squeaked, the carpet was older. But none of that really mattered. There was no fungus or mold, the shower was hot, the towels were plentiful, the A/C kept us cold, the TV channels were plentiful, the kitchen was awesome, the balcony view was perfect, the pool was warm and the employees were wonderful!

Other things not really advertised: one of the beach lifeguard positions is right outside the hotel. Seems to have plenty of parking. We never had a problem getting a spot. Shuffleboard court is there for play. Lots of dinning facilities as well as Publix is nearby.

The only downside are smokers. (sorry smokers, don't like to smell it and it's unhealthy). We were on a non-smoking floor which was great. But when i went out on the balcony, we could smell it wafting around from all over.

I would recommend this hotel and would go back. The 3 on the property rating was because it's older. I'd give my whole experience there a 5 out of 5.

Room Tip: 7th floor is non-smoking and had great view of the beach.

I greatly appreciate your nice comments about our hotel. I am glad you realize how difficult it is to keep up a beach property. Our maintenance and housekeeping staff work very diligently to keep our rooms in tip-top shape. We recently replaced the carpets in 90% of our rooms and have a few more to do working around summertime high occupancy figures. Seems like you ended up in a room with the older carpet, but by your next visit all rooms will be finished.
I apologize for the smoke wafts from other balconies. We have reduced our smoking rooms to just one floor and hope to be smoke free at some point in the near future. It is nice to hear that you, as so many others booked with us due to previous guest reviews about the friendliness of our staff.
Thank you again and hope to welcome you back to Tropical Winds very soon.

Warm welcome by the staff in reception. Love Gwen. Cafe on site - excellent value, warm and friendly staff especially Franc and Billy. Hot dogs at weekend. Two pools - one in and one out. Hotel kept clean at all times. Rooms large and kept spotless. Atmosphere excellent.

Room Tip: Front room over looking the sea has an excellent view. Very relaxing watching the world go by. Rooms recently refurbished including new beds.

The oceanfront room was just beautiful.better than I could have imagined..everything looked brand new.we stayed for 4 nights..and a few times ate in the restaurant in the building. We were pleasantly surprised at the terrific food and service there. Very reasonable too. We enjoyed all who worked at the restaurant...they treated us like family, we loved joking and kidding with them...made us feel at home. Also front desk girls were terrific! We especially enjoyed Gwen....very informative and helpful..and again, treated us like family.Prices were reasonable in the room and the meals....we can't wait to stay here again...this will be the only place we stay while in Daytona...

Room Tip: Oceanfront is the best

I am so happy to hear that we made you feel like family. That is our intention when you walk into the door at Tropical Winds. I will pass your nice comments on to the cafe personnel - they keep us laughing also and so does Ms. Gwen. We have recently updated our rooms and it is nice to hear that our efforts of keeping the property up are appreciated.
I hope to see again very soon.

When we arrived we had an extra person and they did not charge us for the rollaway. The rooms were recently updated and were very clean. Nice kitchenette. The staff were EXCELLENT. The maintenance man unhooked and stored the storage rack from our vehicle and reattached it when we were ready to leave. They offered us a later checkout. They called and got us discounts at area attractions. Miss Gwen at the front was awesome.
If they had a hot tub it would be the complete package.
The hotel is just over a mile from the board walk area. It is a great walk down the beach. We got great breakfast service at IHOP from Boni, the one right at the boardwalk.
We waited 2 hours for a pizza at the Roof on top of Joes crab shack, only to be told the pizza oven was shut down. The food at Bubba Gump was good but the service was slow, expensive drinks. If you go paras ailing it paddle boarding go to Ponce Inlet just across from the lighthouse. I have paddle boarded twice, there and on the river at Three Brothers (they advertise seeing dolphins and manatees at the river). It was a waste of money, one of our group turned around and gave up because you fight the current and have to get around the loop the guide, Eric, leads and sometimes misleads you on. He did not try to make it fun at all. You will LOVE the fun at Ponce Inlet, then you can eat at the beach right next door.
