“STAY AWAY”
Reviewed January 23, 2008

This place is the pits. It is old and needs some upkeep. The condo we stayed in looked like everything was original from when the place may have been new some 40 years ago I would guess. The carpet was stained and dirty. The showers had rust all around the doors. Only 1 of the 2 elevators was working and we were told it has been like that for years.
To top it all off, the condo was full of fleas and they tried to blame us.
This was a terrible experience and I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. It seems others have had similar experiences here and blamed for everything.

We booked the the sunglow in 2006 and were very happy with our stay. We had two Families;mine and our daughters,so we got a two bedroom unit. the rooms were very spacious, clean and well kept. This place is an older place with old elevators, but at least one was working allways. Shores is a quieter atmosphere than up towards daytona. we found a lots to do down at the pier(and under it finding crabs) I will try to get the same rooms this year, should have in 2007. price is right!!

We just returned from spending five nights at the Sunglow Resort next to Sunglow Pier in Daytona Beach Shores. Our family had plenty of room in a two bedroom two bath condo facing the ocean. The location is great. We enjoyed eating at the pier restaurant and nearby restaurants. My husband did some fishing. Our children spent a lot of time in the pool and walking on the beach. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful when we had questions. We're planning to return to enjoy the Sunglow next summer!

  • Liked — Quiet section of Daytona, family oriented, beautiful beach with nearby restaurant
  • Disliked — No exercise room

Well, let me start off by saying how I thought we were going on vacation but when we arrived at the sunglow we realized that we made the biggest mistake. The cleaning people were banging outside our doors early in the morning, elevators quit several times and 9 flights of stairs isn't fun to take when it's 95 outside, the keys were so hard to turn my boyfriend had to help me everytime. Then our room flooded with over an inch of water and we were made to feel responsible because we asked to move rooms. Why wouldn't we??? So my opinion is stay at your own risk! I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy!!

Nice and roomy two bedroom / two bath unit that was a direct ocean front unit. As we understand it, all units are individually owned and our unit was extremely well maintained, clean and comfortable to be in.
Overall the sunglow building had all the convenience we were looking for, a heated pool with jacuzzi along with being located next to the Sunglow pier made it a great place to have a drink and dinner or lunch without walking very far.
Location is ideal because it is away from the crazy downtown area but convenient enough to shopping and many local restaurants.
Parking is somewhat tight around the building, but they offer additional parking across the street at an additional property owned parking lot, which allowed us to conveniently park our motorcycle trailer.
I will use this condo again for future rental.

My husband and I go to Daytona twice a year for the big bike events, Bike Week and Biketoberfest. We are searching for a place that we like enough to return each year and are still looking! It's not that we are that hard to please...seriously, we're not. We need something with parking for our truck, trailer and bikes, quiet enough to sleep at night, decent location, reasonable price, decorated somewhat better than Wal-Mart's worst, and clean; clean is definitely good. Having a kitchen and laundry on site is also nice. Shouldn't be that hard since there are---at last count---987,456 condos in the Daytona area, more or less. :) The Sunglow condos (they are apparently all individually owned, different companies represent different units)are what I call hondos. Sunglow is an old down-in-the-mouth hotel that went condo at some point in its funky life. Parking there is pain in the neck, esp. for bike events, the week we were there the elevators were acting up, and the condo units just LOOK like a nasty old hotel that has made a half-hearted attempt to tart up in order to charge more $$. (Our unit had broken furniture and carpet that may or may not have been cleaned in my lifetime.)I am certain some units are better, some are worse, but be very wary when you are renting here as the Internet photos do lie. For the amount you will pay for one of these units during a bike week,(We paid $1100 for a one bedroom/one bath kitchenette unit) look somewhere else!!
