This is not the Ritz Carlton. The hotel was clean enough, the staff was nice enough, and the room was only $109.00 a night. I'd stay away from the breakfast buffet, the food was pretty gross and I really don't get the "resort" fee. We were there on New Year's Eve and were lucky to find a parking space.

Room: freshly renovated but still a bit dated and worn. Bathroom is tiny. Window sill was disgusting; bugs, dirt, bug feces, and who knows what were all over it. Hadn't been cleaned in far too long. Called housekeeping and was told they had no vacuum to clean it up. Wen we came back from dinner, it had been cleaned. The TV channel selection was pretty poor; many channels with no signal; no channel directory; and it took a moment for each selected channel to register. Needs significant improvement.

We went with a "river view" room. What a joke. There is no river to be seen from the rooms on the floor we were on, only shops and parking lots just across the busy and noisy street below. The river might be visible only to rooms on the highest floors. Hotel website representing these rooms really misrepresents this. It was hard to sleep most of the night because of the street noise.

The restaurants were quite mediocre. We ate at Magnolias and wished we had followed our instincts to eat somewhere else. It was our waitress' first time on the dinner shift and had no clue as to what a dinner service was all about. She had obviously received no training. We were in the restaurant some 90 minutes; pretty long considering there were two waitresses and only two tables being served. We learned later that our waitress was having to watch the front and take care of to-go orders as well--explaining why we saw so little of her (we also had to get our own water refills several times). Not sure why the other waitress couldn't have helped a bit to ensure we had a better experience. The food tasted okay, but mine was over-cooked and dry; my wife's entree was cold and needed to be sent back to be reheated. We had early drinks at The Veranda; both were wrong. Don't give either a thought--go directly to somewhere else in the area. There appears to be several descent restaurants nearby.

Exceptional full service hotel. Many renovations going on at the back of the hotel (started early drilling so forced us to get up a bit sooner than we wanted, although no big deal. You can see a lot of concrete has fallen off and in need of a lot of painting). Restaurant and Lounge was excellent with outstanding service and very reasonable prices for food and drinks. Rooms were average overall and some attention to detail missing (especially housekeeping althoughly they were friendly and accommodating). We were there 5 nights and did notice garbage not picked up throughout (exterior and interior). Cleaning service was missed one day, informed front desk who didn't seem overly concerned, just offered towels (perhaps an apology would have been nice,...overall all front desk agents were very friendly). This property should be rated higher (what a shame for such a nice building) but I think the little things are missing thus rating is in line. We would return again but would also look at the Hilton or Wyndham first.

I recently stayed 6 nights at the Plaza Resort and Spa Hotel in Daytona, FL. The new management has made all the difference. Pat Porter was outstanding and insured that every detail was taken care of. Due to a snag in our first night reservations, she was able to upgrade our room, move all of our belongings and made sure that the staff was helpful, courteous and professional. (Special thanks to Shawn!) The hotel has changed management and staff since I last stayed there a year ago, and one can see and feel the difference. It is beautifully located, right on the beach and within walking distance of restaurants. It has a large outdoor swimming pool which overlooks the beach and ocean, and a really nice spa. You definitely need to try it out!

Room Tip: Ask for an ocean view away from the main street traffic.

I had a great experience. The pool area was really nice with an outside bar for food and cocktails. Walking distance to all the bars at night. Great breakfast buffet which was very inexpensive. Very nice hotel with comfortable beds. I would stay there again.

The view of the ocean from this hotel is amazing! We got upgraded to a ocean facing room and I was very impressed! The room itself was super nice, no complaints at all! We loved bring so close to the ocean. The woman at the pool bar was amazing, the inside hotel bar sucked and was over priced. The ice machine was broken but with a fridge in the room we didn't need it. There are some cosmetic updates that need to be fixed. Overall we would totally stay there again!
