Well...we made a HUGE mistake.....
We stayed in Orlando for 5 days instead of spending an extra 5 days at Perry's haha....no really....
Our second year in a row at this family centered resort. I tell everyone how Perry's is like a place where the soul goes to rest. The ocean, literally right outside your window, brings such peace and calm to tired souls, even dolphin families center themselves in front of Perry's, playing and swimming along together.
My sister and her family, of whom we only get to see once a year, gather here with us...like many reunited families that I saw here to enjoy the fun, sun and all the awesomeness that Perry's gives to their guests.
The moment you arrive, you are in. You just joined the Perry's family, and you never want to say goodbye when that sad moment comes...you know, when the vacation is over and back to reality is upon you...however, you will soon realize that going back to reality, is a little easier because when you close your eyes, and your dream of peace you will see....
The endless beauty of the Atlantic ocean envelopes the resort in it's warmth, and loving energy.
The grounds: Gorgeous, as you walk along the beach, you will soon see the very different theme of Perry's in comparison to some of the other oceanfront resorts. Perry's has lawns...with real, soft and long...toe hugging grass. Tons of lounge chairs, round tables with chairs and umbrellas, two sparkling clean outdoor pools, with brand new brick pool decks, shuffle board, volleyball, and a little putting green. Little trails all around Perry's take you to your room, the grass, the pool, and plenty of ocean entrances. There is also the warm indoor pool and nice, large and hot spa. The indoor pool is in a garden atrium...when the kids (or adults haha) want to wind down, slither on into the warm indoor pool, and soon enough, you are ready to head back to your room for sleepy time...open your door to listen to the sounds of the ocean, and oh so smoothly you are in sweet slumber.
The room: Last year we stayed in the south tower...we are talking oceanfront...not ocean view, or ocean side...like leave your room, walk on the grass, walk on the sand (Unless you are in an upper view room, you walk out the room, down the elevator, a short trail to grass than to beach). This year, north tower. The room was bigger...two queen beds, sofa sleeper bed, two comfy chairs, kitchen table with four chairs, bathroom with tile floors, changing/extra storage/sink/mirror area, and kitchen with refrigerator, sink, stove, oven, microwave, toaster, utensils, coffee pot. New carpet.
The negatives: Fair reviews....and things that can be fixed....and things that would NEVER change my mind from going back:
1. The room itself smelled very clean and was mostly clean. Please know that there are new owners of the resort, and so much money is going into Perry's...everyday they are buying improvements....so......here it is: The refrigerator, on the sides, were very dirty, we had to wash them down...the windows looking out to the ocean were dirty, needed windex, and could use a really good cleaning (These windows take a nasty beating daily from the ocean, I do understand that)...and the outdoor patio needs a good spray down....the sheets and bedcover..spotless clean and smelled very nice. The window drapes and the bedskirts need to be taken out for cleaning.
We had great housekeepers, daily fresh towels, brought us the broom and vacuum whenever we asked to help us rid the sand from everything hehe.
The minor housekeeping issues, will be fixed, as this is Perry's way....if something is wrong, all you need to do is tell someone, and bam! It's fixed.
So awesome how many people really know about the resort. We went surfing at Pure Life, down the street, and they raved about how Perry's is the most friendly, and beautiful resort on the beach....getting on the airplane in Phoenix, Arizona a family noticed my Perry's shirt...and said "about them donuts???" and I am like "oh yeah its so about them donuts"...
Speaking of donuts...they deserve their own section within this review:
Donuts: Holy guacamole...they are so awesome. Not only do you get fresh and multiple flavors of donuts made every single morning by Perry's awesome donut makers...you get the personality of the lead donut dude...we love him, he comes to every table asking you about your day, your family, where you are from, what you had planned for the day, and if you like the donuts today. There is juice, coffee and fresh water as well. The donut room is one that has been re-done since our last visit, and it looks....beautiful yall!
The front office has a fish tank, a nice seating area, two computers with printer, a change machine and looks so warm and inviting (love the colors you all chose to paint with).
The parking lot: I have seen some complaints about the amount of spots available...we luckily did not have this issue this year or last year...there are alot of spots...I can see on busy times, that it could get crowded, and you may have to park across the street...but if thats the worst thing that happens to you...well...ummm sorry? :) Hurry and get to the beach, because thats what we come here for anyways :).
The building itself has alot that still needs to be done, and I know is underway getting fixed...not sure how many years, but many many years right on the beach, through storms and beach air, any building this close would need maintenence...so with that...the building is cracked, and needs patching....however if you look at the website you can see all the construction plans for Perry's and fixing these things are already on the list :).
The gift shop: Has a few things, wish it had more Perry's branded things, I bought a few shirts...would love Perry's cups, hats, etc...I would have bought them for sure! The store has boogie boards for about 15 dollars...if you want my honest opinion, one of these is fine if you got little ones playing in the white wash...but if you want to get a good one for the day, you can drive down to ocean blue and rent a good one with rash guard for like 15 a day...and YESS...get the rash guard.
Whats around to do? Right across street there is a Winn Dixie super market, a bit down is a 7/11...lots of places to eat at, check out the cow licks homemade ice cream place, otherwise, make your own food up in your room, or just eat sandwiches on the beach everyday :). We did go to Mango Sun there on site, so yummy (see my separate review) and had a couple buckets from the Tiki Bar...oh the buckets! lol....
Perry's is for families, the older, the younger, the middles, the teens...everyone looks so happy here...reunions all over the place, its just...like being home, if home was well...awesome at all times!
Sure, minor housekeeping issues exist...but nothing that can not be remedied with reviews and feedback.
Do not look further for your family...this is the place. Please feel free to send me a message if you have questions, I am happy to share honest suggestions.
I hope that you feel as loved as we do when we go to Perry's, our home away from home by the seashore.
